El centro cultural Saint-Paul de Mausole alberga un claustro románico catalogado, un campo pintado por Van Gogh y la galería de arte Valetudo.
De mayo de 1889 a mayo de 1890, Vincent Van Gogh estuvo internado en el Asilo de San Pablo, situado en el antiguo monasterio. Fue aquí donde pintó muchos de sus cuadros, 150 de los más famosos. En la actualidad, el recinto está dividido en varios sectores e incluye un centro cultural. Este último alberga el claustro románico catalogado, la reconstrucción de la habitación del hospital de Van Gogh, el campo de Van Gogh, la galería de arte de Valetudo y la historia de las hermanas del instituto.

On the other hand, some of the things they did to those people in the asylum were pretty barbaric.
We followed the paper guide that was provided and it told a great story. We took 45-60 minutes to wander around and see what we could see. We took loads of pictures and used our imagination.
Something we learned on at the end of the tour was the asylum still hosts people in need of help. Obviously in a modern facility across the property, but they use the same art therapy that they used during Van Gogh’s stay.
I recommend a visit, but remember, it’s not flashy, it’s just a special place that will move you.
