The pub is a classic and the food, whilst punching above its weight, remains within squarely within the now well established lineage of gastro pub menus. What stands out is the quaint, carefully designed and plushly appointed bedrooms with their tiny yet country manor-looking en-suite bathrooms. One feels one could easily be in Oxfordshire for a fleeting moment, yet a stone throw away from Sloane Square.
Had dinner up stairs was really nice good atmosphere friendly staff very knowledgeable and had a nice chilled out non pretentious atmosphere would recommend xxx
Came for a sunday roast and it was amazing, staff were friendly and very informative, great setting and ambiance, will be definitely coming back here again
Visited The Orange after its “revamp” which has been done nicely but the new bar doesn’t seem to be very practical as not enough space to prop yourself up there or eat small plates there, as too close to the tables along the opposite wall. Service was slow at the start, took a while to have our order taken, however, they were very attentive with pouring wine once it arrived. Food was good although my friend and I ordered the chicken with grapes and we weren’t informed upon ordering that that was literally the dish, no veg or anything else on the plate, so whilst the chicken was delicious, we feel some veg side dishes should have been advised. We had a very nice bottle of Picpoul. We would go back but there is room for improvement.
Half of the menu was not available to begin with and after placing the order and waiting for some time we were told that what we had chosen was not available either. The service was very slow, drinks and food took long to arrive. The Yorkshire Pudding was burned to ash. The staff kept apologising and offering free drinks/discounts after every mess-up, which is nice of them, but getting bad food and a discount was not my Sunday plan. What a bizarre experience
Came here with friends for Sunday lunch and was unimpressed. The staff were very rude and dismissive (no one acknowledged us for 5 mins when we arrived). The manager downstairs told us he needed the table back (which we understood) but then got annoyed we didn't leave on time (which we couldn't as he hadn't brought us our bill yet). Such a shame as the pub is nice and food is pretty good but the staff ruined our experience.
Lovely atmosphere, amazing pizza and fantastic service! We had a lovely lunch here and after my husband lost his AirPods here Aaron saved the day and found them for us. Lovely pub all round!
Booked a table for Christmas Day for a party of four, two of the party are vegetarian which was explained to the serving waiter. Main Food came out at different times and the waiter was blaming the kitchen, seasonal veg had bacon on which we explained was not mentioned on the menu , waiter took this back and we waited for more seasonal veg but came out with more potatoes and veg again with bacon. We could see there were issues with other diners, whole day was a bit shambolic to be honest and we had to give this feedback to the manager whom with all due respect to him agreed with us and apologised and said we would only be charged for the wines we had ordered.
Such a shame as we were looking forward to spending our Christmas Day there and thought from reviews it would be memorable in a positive way.
We were there for a wedding. There wasn't enough food for everyone. When I told the member of staff she didn't care. When I mentioned to the staff that meat was not cooked enough he just laughed and removed it, no offer to cook it some more. It was cold location. Overpriced beverages in the bar. Very average
Went for Sunday roast and it was good - the pizzette and the squid were delicious as well (though the beets salad was average). Good service and beautiful setting. Definitely a pub worth going to!
