If you are looking for a gastronomic experience .. fine food made with passion at very reasonable prices from a family owned restaurant then you have found a fantastic place . The owners have been here for 17 years and clearly love what they do .. an art. As with all artists you have to appreciate their style to enjoy it .. so a little patience is required .

Alberto & Giuseppina are involved with the whole process from the kitchen to looking after you .. they talk you through the menu and offer wine pairing suggestions. The service is very individual not to be rushed so make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy the experience & food .. for us the best restaurant and found this by accident others we did research but none were close to Zeb. As we found Zeb on the last day we had to rush off we are planning a trip back !

It is a wi-if free zone and due to the bar style seating layout it is not really suitable for children and pushchairs

Locale molto bello ed innovativo per essere di lunga durata, host veramente preparati ed accoglienti, menzione speciale alla signora che ci ha fatti sentire a casa, cibo buono con un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Simply amazing pasta from such a fine establishment

Era molto tempo che non tornavo in questo bellissimo locale, ho ritrovato tutto come avevo lasciato, locale caldo e accogliente diverso dal classico ristorante, servizio più che ottimo ????, cucina sublime....dovrò tornarci più spesso.!

I’d be cautious to rely on the negative reviews for this place. I think this should be a 4.8+ spot. Seems that most that you read here may not quite understood what they were signing up for. We had a wonderfully paced meal, with excellent wine, at prices that are far below the quality of food. Sure the chef is a little unique in his style and mannerisms but not unexpected given what he is trying to build at Zeb. If you’re ready to have great food and wine over a few hours, then this is the place!

Dopo tanti anni che pranzo/ceno in questo ristorante è bastato un attimo per fare in modo che non ci torni mai più. Mi sono soffermata alle 17:00 per chiedere la disponibilità di un tavolo per la sera. Trovando la porta aperta sono entrata e sono stata immediatamente ricevuta dalla signora che parlandomi inglese (non avevo capito infatti inizialmente) mi riceve con uno scortesissimo “cloooseeeddd”. In effetti i proprietari stavano mangiando, ma non avendolo potuto vedere da fuori e avendo trovato la porta aperta (e non chiusa a chiave) avrei chiesto scusa per l’interruzione e augurato buon appetito, andandomene immediatamente. Ho fatto per scusarmi e salutare ma la signora parlandomi sopra e con un tono veramente aggressivo mi grida “closeeed, si, si, vada vada, goodbyeeee!” facendomi anche il gesto con la mano. Penso che la signora scambiandomi per una turista, si sia sentita legittimata a trattarmi a pesci in faccia (che schifo di comportamento).
Questo maleducatissimo trattamento mi ha mortificata, sono rimasta basita e sono rimasta veramente male della gratuità dell’odioso trattamento. Se la signora fosse stata un minimo cortese, lo scambio si sarebbe concluso civilmente e amichevolmente in meno di 30 secondi, limitando così l'interruzione. Posso aver interrotto il suo meritato riposo ma la maleducazione non è assolutamente giustificata in nessun caso, specialmente per chi è nel settore hospitality (di cui faccio parte anche io come proprietaria, e mai, dico mai mi sono permessa di trattare i miei clienti in questo modo). Per questo, nonostante sia affezionata al posto e la cucina sia buona, non metterò mai più piede in questo ristorante e sicuramente non lo consiglierò più ai miei clienti come avevo sempre fatto.

Ravioli with pecorino, ricotta and pear is a must try. It was so surprisingly delicious we went to Zeb again to taste that and their delicious Sicilian cake. Sicilian cake, with pistachio paste and zest filling and heavenly ricotta mousse, tasting all individually and in harmony. I’m afraid I’m addicted to it. ???? Would revisit Florance just to eat their pear ravioli and Sicilian cake.

Siamo stati a pranzo in questo posto piccolo ma molto accogliente ed elegante, sull'atmosfera niente da dire: l'idea del posto da apprezzare. Personalmente il modo di fare del "titolare" un po' burbero: avendo tempo limitato per visitare la città abbiamo chiesto l'attesa del secondo, dopo la consumazione dei primi, e si é scatenato davanti a tutti, insomma direi una figuraccia. Nonostante tutto il cibo molto buono, ha chiesto di ritornarci...e ritorneremo, ma alla focaccieria che ci ha consigliato, avendo tempi piu brevi ! ????

Great example of how you can cook the best food but have the worst service. Alberto and family have the worst and unwelcoming attitude. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, NEVER COMING BACK.

Pedi uma massa com ragu, estava bem salgada. O senhor que me atendeu aparentava estar bem infeliz fazendo seu trabalho. Só pedi um prato, não achei que valesse a pena pedir o segundo. Experiência bem ruim. Não recomendo.

Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish - average food with horrific standard of service.

We discovered this restaurant on the Michelin guide which rarely gives any bad surprises but this was certainly one.

It started with our phone call to book our table. We asked if 8:00 was available but were told rudely to come at 7:30 without explanation - at this point we put it down to their probably being very busy.

Dressed up for the occasion and setting, we arrived and introduced ourselves politely to the first staff member who kindly showed us to our designated seats.

The experience sharply declined, however, with the service of the main gentleman who seemed to run the business. His whole attitude was condescending and unfriendly, immediately rushing us through the menu items with a flat face. He was extremely impatient when we asked for clarification. We asked if we could order an aperitivo to start with, to which he said with much unnecessary judgment “We don’t do cocktails. Red or white.”

There was bread on the counter and we asked whether we could have any olive oil - you would think in Italy this is at least an acceptable question - but were abruptly told they cannot serve us any olive oil. This level of over-stiffness and inflexibility already surprised us for this standard of restaurant.

Our pasta primi arrived and we were momentarily placated by the good quality of this ravioli dish. The pasta was cooked to perfection.

Then returned the true colours of this restaurant: we had not even finished our pasta and the next dish was forced in between onto the narrow counter space.

The mains took away any compensation that quality of food could give for poor service. The pollo dish was completely overpowered with saltiness from an insensible proportion of cheese to chicken, which was tough and rendered tasteless.

The popese, a classic Tuscan dish, was absolutely dry and tough to the point of being powdery. Again over-salted, we had much better popese at a cheap restaurant.

We were never asked by any staff how the food was, never offered another drink or even a refill of water when these were visibly finished. These are normal expectations for any decent restaurant.

We made our best efforts to finish our mains and politely put them on the serving counter when finished. The main waiter noticed leftovers on passing and asked, “Didn’t like it?” Intimidated we smiled sheepishly saying “Well the starter was great!” He just shook his head and stormed into the kitchen. Any waiter would at least ask what’s wrong.

Though the main waiter treated the tourists next to us with similar gruffness, we noticed him laughing and conversing with the local Italian speaking customers across from us. This leaves the feeling that it’s a crime to be not local and come to this restaurant.

Having traveled and dined extensively throughout Italy, we usually absolutely love the culture, food and welcoming attitude of the country. But even regardless of the underwhelming food at Zeb, their unacceptable treatment of customers here is enough to taint Italy’s reputation as a visitor-friendly country.

Overall, Zeb’s pretentious and unwelcoming atmosphere strikes as a failed effort to feign class with unnecessary rigidity, only to result in an unacceptable dining experience.

Have you seen the soup "dictator" on Seinfeld? Well that is alberto. The website lists he "values friendship" but he does not even register a Ciao or warm smile when entering. Maybe a little racist or prejudiced but upon entering, his young wait staff was ready to seat 2 of us. But bc young waitstaff interrupted Alberto's menu presentation to another couple he snapped his finger and yelled at the young waitstaff to get back behind him and not talk to us. We stood there shocked. Waited until alberto was done with his menu presentation. Then he came over and said he doesn't have us down for reservations. Yet, there were 6 open chairs. He said try again tomorrow! Yeah, no.

Hands down best pasta we’ve had in Florence. We went in with an open mind and Alberto, the chef, was so nice to us…offering advice on what to order and kindly explaining the menu. Nowadays, many enter establishments with a sense of entitlement, speaking English without bothering to learn even basic Italian greetings, expecting royal treatment despite only spending 40€. This establishment isn't about that. It offers genuine Italian cuisine and merits nothing less than a 5-star review. Thanks for everything!

First of all the food is incredible. but what is worth that the food is so good if you get a vibe from the chef/waiter that you not welcome if you not speeking italian. I and my girlfreind decided to order check before we were full , because we felt like the chef/waiter is about to yell at us at every single moment, which made as felt uncomfortable. I recommend to tourist not to go there if they dont want to been treated like they not welcomed

this restaurant has some rules in order to manage good service and quality.I don’t understand negative comments especially about owners.Food quality is superb.Good pasta and also traditional and fine fiorentin cousine .Good wine selection and prices.This one will be one of my priority adress at Florance .

Please go with an open mind! Zeb is an elegant restaurant with fantastic food. The staff really know what they are doing, especially regarding wine, that will go well with your dish. If you want to visit somewhere with super friendly and chatty staff, this may not be the place for you. If you want a brilliant experience with your food and wine, please go here. We stumbled across this place and walked in to make a booking for that evening and we could! They serve typical Tuscan dishes that do not disappoint and the prices are not too high.

Florença tem uma pérola gastronômica e por isso a Michelin está de olho neles a um tempo e pude ver porque, é um restaurante de alta gastronomia o tamanho não importa mas sim o peso da cozinha nos pratos. Chegando já somos bem recebidos e nos apresentando o cardápio vimos que seria um experiência perfeita, poderia explicar os pratos que pedimos mas o cardápio é curto e bem montado peça o que mais combinar com você e seja feliz! O balcão é espetacular eu sempre venero restaurantes que tem. Não esqueça da sobremesa que é maravilhosa. Recomendo!

Great food, actually pretty good service? We braced ourselves for judgment given that we only intended to order one full meal + an extra main, shared by two. Chef was completely OK with that and even halved most things for us!

Fui ao ZEB em uma segunda-feira feira às 21h e estava fechado, contrariando o site e o Instagram que informavam estarem abertos até 22:30. Gastamos 30 euros em um Taxi pra chegarmos lá e demos de cara com a porta! Absurdo!!

Un sentito ringraziamento al proprietario per averci rovinato la cena con la sua maleducazione. Avrei preferito mangiare peggio ma essere trattata meglio.

The host at the reception is rude.

He has a bad attitude on Asian guests while he talked happily in Italian at the next second.

Definately do not recommend this place.

Perhaps the food is worth a Michelin recommendation but the service and attitude toward their guests.

Locale molto particolare, ti siedi lungo il bancone e dentro questa "penisola" c'è lo chef che ti spiega il menù in modo molto dettagliato, persona molto gentile e simpatico. Qualità del cibo molto alta. Complimenti
