The room was super clean, spacious, beds were super comfy. Zero complaints on that front. The only thing I found super bizarre was that there was no soap in the room, we had to use shampoo to wash our hands! It was very bizarre, they gave several bottles of shampoo and conditioner, just no soap! Otherwise, it's important to note the stairs are very steep and there's no elevator, I didn't realize that when I booked. Just something to look out for!

We booked our room through Expedia. We got to our room and it was lovely. But when we woke up there was “black pepper” all over our white sheets and I had bug bites on my hands and arms.
The room we stayed in had bed bugs. I reached out to Expedia they told me to contact the hotel. The hotel never answered their phone or returned my emails. I reached out to Expedia again and they said the hotel did not answer the phone and did not respond to emails.
I was looking for a refund Expedia told me sorry we can not refund your stay because we can not get in contact with the hotel.
So do not stay at this hotel and do not expect any help from Expedia if you have a problem. I’ll be using another site from now on to book hotels.

The location is great. The rooms are decent, but the bathroom was quite small. Unfortunately, there is no soundproofing whatsoever, so all day above me I could hear steps, conversations, coughing, zippers opening and closing on luggages, etc...

Excellent location, our room was very cute and reasonably priced, staff were friendly. The shower was pretty small and leaked a little around the bottom, otherwise would have given 5 stars

Pire expérience client. Les chambres ne sont pas insonorisées, donc on entend les conversations dans les chambres voisines. Nos voisins de chambre ont fait le party jusqu’à 4h du matin. Nous avons tenté d’appeler à plusieurs reprises un responsable pour arranger la situation, mais aucune réponse. Aussi, il s’adonne que j’ai oublié un effet personnel dans ma chambre. Je tente de rentrer en contact, encore une fois, avec un responsable à travers plusieurs appels, des messages sur le répondeur, des courriels, mais toujours sans réponse! Impossible de parler avec qui que ce soit dans cet établissement !!! Je ne recommande pas.

Charming Gem in Old Quebec City

Initially hesitant due to mixed reviews, my stay at Hotel Jardin Du Gouverneur turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The spacious and spotless rooms, coupled with a serene atmosphere, provided a comfortable retreat. The incredible location only enhanced the overall experience. While reception was unmanned upon our arrival, clear and accessible instructions, along with our key cards, were provided in an envelope. Practical details for nearby parking were also included. The staircase challenge, mentioned in reviews, is valid, but ground-floor options are available upon request. Despite this, I was thoroughly delighted with the hotel and would gladly return.

We LOVED our stay here. We've been to Quebec City many times, but this was our first time staying at this property. I was a bit worried based on other reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised that it was a big, clean room with an amazing view. While we were told there would be no housekeeping during our 3 night stay, we were happy come back on our third day to a freshened up room. The beds were so comfortable and we had a great sleep. The property is well looked after, but not perfect, but we didn't mind - much of the wear is expected. Our limited interaction with staff was very pleasant. We are definitely going to make this our go to hotel from now on. Thank you!

I stayed here this November (2023) Their location is a 5 star. Quiet area but really close to everything. The hotel itself is lacking in many ways. Maintenance is suffering both inside and out. We didn’t feel that we were taking care of. Just given a room is all. The stairway is very narrow up to our room and we had to navigate all 45 of them many times. We will be looking for another accommodation if we return to beautiful Quebec City

Il n'y avait personne à la "réception", ni à notre arrivée, ni pour notre départ. Pour le check-in, les cartes de chambre de tous les clients étaient placées sur le comptoir avec les noms et les # de chambre. (N'importe qui aurait pu prendre n'importe laquelle).
Notre chambre était désuète et très petite. Nous n'avions pas de table. nous avons dû prendre la seule table de chevet qu'il y avait pour déposer nos verres.
La couette du lit se retrouve entre 2 draps...pas très hygiénique...
Nous sommes restés assez surpris car tout paraissaît très bien sur les photos du site de l'hôtel.
Nous avons dû mettre le chauffage "dans le fond", toute la soirée pour être confortable car il faisait froid et le système de chauffage n'est pas à son top...
Nous sommes restés embarrés dehors lorsque nous voulions rentrés vers 10h30pm. Notre carte ne fonctionnait pas. Nous avons dû appeler le # sur la porte d'entrée pour qu'on nous donne un code pour rentrer.
Bref, beaucoup de déception de notre côté.
Par contre, l'emplacement est parfait!

Beautiful location! The room was also decent. The only complaint was that we had to figure out how to turn on the heat by ourselves. When I asked the receptionist, they just changed the thermostat to heat and mentioned it will turn on after sometime; that did not happen and the receptionist had already left. Apparently heat had a separate thermostat control.

Quelle surprise de constater que cet hôtel est désuet, malpropre et très mal insonorisé les photos du site sont trompeuses, en tant qu'hôtelier j'aurais de la difficulté à accueillir des invités avec l'état de cette chambre (fenêtre brisée) et que dire de l'inconfort du matelas, deux nuits à ne pas dormir à tourner d'un bord et de l'autre, petit weekend devient épuisant et stressant, courbatures, bref à éviter si possible, je n'y retournerai plus.

Getting your bags for a 10 day cruise up their very steep and very narrow staircase was grueling!!! The room was spacious and clean with a beautiful view, but they were old and really no amenities. It was next door to the Chateaux de Frontenac which was nice.

Poor rooms, very expensive for room only. No disabled access, steep stairways to all floors. One of our party had bare electric wires showing from the back of electric plug which was away from the wall. Dangerous bathroom as there were no anti slip mats in the bath/shower, water taps were loose, I slipped and fell, badly bruising my back and hip area, also a severe nose bleed from the fall. Contacted reception, was offered breakfast as compensation but where and how we would have got it was a mystery, because they had no breakfast facility.

Chambre minuscule, mal propre, salle de bain incroyablement petite, lit en piteux etat puisque je roulais sur mon conjoint (180 lbs seulement) plancher mal propre, je ne recommande pas du tout nous sommes aller dans une autre hôtel pour la deuxième nuit

Great location, hotel very disappointing,
Dated room and decor to match, paintwork chipped, bathroom was dangerous no bath mats no hand rail for assistance, toilet hardly flushed, I would not recommend this place to anyone cheap and nasty

L'emplacement est vraiment idéal dans le vieux Quebec. Contrairement aux autres commentaires, je n'ai rien a redire sur l'accueil, notre chambre etait même prête avant l'heure. Pas de souci majeur concernant la propreté dans l'ensemble. En revanche, pour le prix assez élevé les prestations ne sont pas a la hauteur ! A noter que je compare avec l'hôtel dans lequel nous etions juste a côté (hotel nomad), qui pour un prix moins élevé etait beaucoup plus sympathique, avec possibilité de stationnement (ce qui nest pas le cas au gouverneur). La chambre etait bruyante (clim vieillissante, frigo qui tourne en continu, ventilation dans la salle de bains qui reveille toute la chambre) et mériterait un bon rafraîchissement (sol abîmé, fenêtre cassée). La couette n'est pas dans un drap housse mais entre deux draps (ce qui n'est pas très hygiénique), quand le drap n'a pas un énorme trou (cf photo). C'est la première chose que l'on voit en entrant, franchement ca ne serait pas difficile de modifier quelques details pour changer le sentiment general (robinet mal fixé, porte difficile a fermer et ouvrir...)... Tres déçus. Attention, pas d'ascenseur pour monter aux chambres.

Save yourself some heartache and from ruining your trip by staying at this property! They want you to believe that it is a quaint hotel with European charm but what you get is old furniture that looks as if found outside by the garbage and what could possibly be a bullet shot through the window. Would have been great to have been in the way or maybe even a loved one. Oh yes, they did not even bother to fix it. I have video and pictures to prove it. We asked if we could change rooms, of course "No." We asked if there was some way to fix with duct tape. Their solution, "Close the curtains." We noped out of there within the hour. Of course because of their greediness we are not getting any kind of refund. No help from Expedia as well!

È un albergo a 2 stelle, quindi chi lo prenota non deve aspettarsi un servizio impeccabile. La pulizia delle camere è buona, il bagno era un po’ ‘alla buona’. Avevamo una camera a piano terra con due letti matrimoniali con vista sulla strada e sul giardino “ du governeur”. Il personale che ci ha accolto per il check in e fatto il check out (personale giovane) sempre tendenzialmente freddino, ma comunque gentile. Abbiamo scelto questo albergo principalmente per la posizione, estremamente strategica, e non ci ha deluso.
