CHÂTEAU DE VALMER - SPA ^{* * * * *}

We were treated well from our arrival to our departure. The grounds are lovely. The outdoor and indoor pool are well maintained. The walk to the beach through the vineyard is something to remember. The beach club loungers were very good and the attendants were always there to help. Dinner at La Pinede Plage was very good with a view on the beach. I would return again and I want to thank everyone who helped us during our stay.

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and two children (aged 7 and 9) in a family suite for just under one week during September 2024.||The first thing I would point out is that the family suite we stayed in was two storeys; I hadn't known this in advance. Therefore if mobility is of concern, be sure to check in advance whether your desired suite is split over two levels or not.||Our suite was very impressive and importantly, had enough space for the four of us to store our clothes. In theory, this suite could host 6 people, and it has three bedrooms! However, I note there is only one fairly small bathroom, which might make hosting 6 people tricky. As a family of four, we were extremely happy.||Location||The location is lovely. This chateau is set among vinyards and is approximately a 1km walk from Plage Gigaro, the beach. When we were there the wind was quite strong and was whipping up significant waves. The water is somewhat cold but pleasant.||This is not, in my opinion, a particularly paedestrian-friendly area, with winding roads and cars whose drivers make, at times, choices that are arguably sub-optimal. Nevertheless, it is "possible" to walk around, and to bike around, however we found the roads to be narrow and I would not risk it with young children. Note there are not many restaurants or attractions in the immediate vicinity of this hotel - just the beach and a couple of beach restaurants.||Eating||I mention the food due to the lack of restaurants in the area. There is a formal restaurant, a casual restaurant, and the "sister" restaurant, the beach restaurant. The beach restaurant is expensive by almost anyone's standards, with the bistro being the most reasonable option on offer. All food was of an extremely high quality.||Rooms||Our suite was lovely and immaculately clean. The minibar was a bit lacklustre and lacked stock - just some small bottles of soft drink and water. No snacks. The three bedrooms were a real luxury for us, and we were very happy. As advertised there is no kitchenette. There are two balconies (small). A drying rack could improve the amenity of the room.||A laundry service (albeit expensive, per piece) is available, however it was so pricey for a family of four that I washed some items by hand and dried them (no drying rack available, not even for wet bathers). ||The circuitry in our room was idiosyncratic, and to charge our phones next to our bed, we would have to leave the bedside light/s on (one circuit). This meant charging our phones far away from the bedroom. ||Spa||The spa is lovely and I highly recommend it, with pool, jacuzzi, hammam and sauna, in addition to the many lovely services on offer. You can relax outdoors if weather permits (there are various sunlounges outdoors).||Activities||As mentioned, you may find that a car is helpful. We certainly did. The hotel was very helpful to us by booking a boat cruise and some horse riding. ||Service||The service is second to none and the staff go above and beyond to assist you. Their English is great, which really helped us as Australians. It is really the service, the food and the cleanliness (plus three bedrooms!) that lead me to say I would recommend this hotel to a friend! ||I hope this information helps you :)
