El Milnes Bar es un pub y, como casi todos los pubs, también es un restaurante. Presume de tener el mejor fish and chips de Edimburgo... El menú es clásico, con tartas tradicionales, hamburguesas, sándwiches, macarrones con queso, haggis, pollo asado, platos vegetarianos y guarniciones de patatas fritas y guisantes. Sencillo y eficaz
Anécdota literaria: Milnes Bar es apodado el "pub de los poetas". En los años 50 y 60, fue escenario de los encendidos debates de dos famosos poetas nacionales: Hugh MacDiarmid y Norman MacCaig. La sala de la planta baja recibió el nombre de "Pequeño Kremlin" en recuerdo de estas justas verbales.

It was once the favoured watering hole of famous Scottish poets such as Hugh MacDiarmid and Norman MacCaig and also had a reputation for being a hub of left-wing politics, so much so that the downstairs anteroom was nicknamed the “Little Kremlin”.
These days it’s part of the Belhaven chain, but it still has much of it’s old charm and character.
The beer is very good and reasonably priced, the staff are friendly and efficient and the surroundings are pleasant and clean.
I was there on a cold Thursday evening and the sight of a real fire was most welcoming.
I didn’t have food but I’d like to have a meal here at sometime in the future.
