It is a beautiful Cathedral, but I'm wondering why St Josephs statue is front and centre in the Church? There is no crucifix that I could see!

The Cathédrale Saint-Joseph à Nouméa is a remarkable display of Neo-Gothic architecture that captures the imagination of anyone who visits. During my visit in July 2023, I was particularly impressed by how well-preserved the cathedral is, reflecting both its cultural significance and the care it receives.

This town is seriously something else! I mean, Sunday is Sunday here. Everything is closed! I think the cruise ship was trying to play a trick on me by bringing us here on a day when even the ghosts are taking a nap. I was planning to visit this awesome cathedral, but nope, it was shut tight. I guess you could say I had a front-row seat to a very quiet town. Lesson learned: check the days of the week before visiting a place like Noumea, New Caledonia. 'Closed' really means 'closed' here!

Aunque la tienes presente -la ves desde lejos- cuesta llegar a ella. Lo consigues callejeando Numea y ascendiendo los peldaños de la escalinata que te lleva a la puerta. En el interior, belleza: en el coro, en las vidrieras... Y los relojes que marcan las horas (de aquí, de allá, de...). Catedral de San José, sin...Fallas.

Schöne Kathedrale in Noumea. Wir konnten leider nur einen Blick hinein werfen und sie nicht wirklich besichtigen, da sie geschlossen hatte. Wir waren hier auch ziemlich allein.

行った時にはほとんど人はおらずひっそりとしていました。　基本的に自由に出入りできて、中も見学できました。　像やステンドグラスが荘厳な雰囲気を出していて、落ち着く場所でした。

Very historical but poor ventilation. Bring your own fan. Just before Mass began, the church bells were rung for 10 to 15 minutes. Church has high vantage point over the city. Beautiful stained glass of saints and outside a magnificent Joan of Arc statute.

There is a 6:00am Mass daily from Monday to Saturday. For Sunday Masses, there is a 3:00pm Saturday Vigil Mass and Mass at 6:00am, 9:00am, and 6:30pm.

Joli + beau point de vu sur la ville !

Un peu surélevé sur l'une des collines de Nouméa, la cathédrale offre un joli point de vu sur la ville et les différentes baies.

Les vitraux, dans cette partie du monde, semblent exotiques. Sur le parvis devant on y a une belle vue sur la ville de Nouméa.

¡Jolie Cathédrale combinada de una bonita estatua de Juana de Arco en armadura! No dudar en venir en coche o podrá colocar el tiempo de la visita ¡El interior es también muy majo y merece el paso!Al' exterior una gruta/cavidad o se encuentra una Ste Virgen es también visibles.Recepción simpática del personal presente
