One of the world's greatest collections of art from 13th-20th centuries. Main collection free to visit: ground floor rooms (earliest works) usually very peaceful.
Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I was so happy to go and see the Wonderful Exhibition of Caravaggio on display now until July 21st.
**?" Great Excitement ???? ????????????❤️❤️????❤️????????❤️????????????????????????????
omg i saw van gogh, monet and davinci IN ONE DAY??? AND THAT COOL PAINTING FOR THE EXECUTION OF JANE GREY?!:?;£/ SUPER COOL i loved it sm, the rooms were clean, atmosphere was comfortable, toilets were ok and its free! very recommended
My wife was taking part in a sketching class outside whilst I wandered around inside! Who's who of painters covering 500+ years from the incredible fine detail of Canaletto's paintings of Venice to the broad brush strokes of Van Gogh. Free entry, just took a few minutes to get through the bag check. Also a bit of a queue for a free special exhibition - The Last Caravaggio.
The National Gallery, on Trafalgar Square has one of the best and largest collections of paintings in the world. It has to be said though, that the building itself is a work of art with beautiful mosaics in its entrance hall.
We went to see Caravaggio’s last painting and whilst we had to queue for a short time it was worth it. There was also plenty of time for us to look in the other galleries at the beautiful and thought provoking works on display.
Staff are friendly and professional and very helpful and with its cafe/restaurant offerings it is well worth your time!
Museo davvero molto bello.
