The hotel (and the whole of Dubrovnik) is expensive. I’m assuming due to the transition into Euros, which seems to be about 30% more expensive.
The staff seem friendly enough, as do a proportion of the guests.
There’s no supermarket nearby and the tiny shop near the pool sells water (1.5L) for €2.40 which to be frank is extortionate but when you have no other option, it’s goto be done.
The rooms (in the Annex) are tiny and packed with furniture. There’s a fridge and a kettle, a safe and towels. The pillows are gigantic so I’ll need to see an Osteopath to fix my neck when I get home. Housekeeping come daily and are very nice. The aircon can only be turned on or off but you have no control over the temperature. The shower has decent pressure and gets as hot as I like it. Oh and the beds are tiny (we have a “twin” room) …so very tiny.
Also need to add that we arrived one hour before check and told our room wasn’t ready. Fair enough. We went and had lunch in their pool restaurant and returned 30mins after check in to be told our room still wasn’t ready. After some faffing about, we were finally given a key and taken to our room in the golf buggy. This is probably the least accommodating hotel I’ve been in that I can remember and I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t want us hanging around in the room 30mins after check out.
The water here (in the pool and sea) is too cold for me in October but you have to pay for sunbeds on the hotel beach (make that make sense - something like €6 for an umbrella and €10 for the bed) but get beds by the pool free.
So to reiterate, you get what you pay for, and not a smidge beyond that.
