I have stayed a few times at Emerson spice and now Emerson on Hurumzi. It’s been such a wonderful experience every time. The staff is absolutely lovely and each room is so unique. Everything has a very personal touch and I would highly recommend it to tourists as well as locals.

This place was great for dinner and lunch cause there's rooftop that you can see different things at stone town area even if food was delicious more than anything mhhhhh yummy

Dachterrasse ist sehr schön und das Personal oben auf der Terrasse sehr freundlich. Leider wurde ich aber etwas ausgetrickst. Hatte online reserviert, aber anscheinend gibt es mehrere Emerson. Ich kam bei dem Emerson an, wo ich nicht reserviert hatte. Hatte bereits 10 € gezahlt als Anzahlung. Mir wurde dann aber gesagt, ich könne auch gerne hier bleiben und es sei schöner und ich könnte in den traditionellen plätzen essen. Meinte ich habe aber dort angezahlt. Das sei alles kein Problem wurde mach oben geführt und oben angekommen wurde mir gesagt ich muss den vollen Preis zahlen und kriege auch nicht die traditionellen Sitzplätze. Das war leider alles sehr ärgerlich.

We stayed just two nights at Emerson on Hurumzi which included the rooftop dinner the first night. We got a balcony room which I recommend - great views and it was a delight to catch the sea breeze in the AM and evening. The room has air conditioning but since the space is fairly open it doesn't do much. Be aware that it can be quite warm in the room and that there are a number of steep steps to get to it. That said, it was a lovely stay in a great location with exceptional service. We enjoyed our breakfast and the rooftop dinner too.

We had a beautiful Christmas Eve rooftop dinner at Emersons. It was a delicious meal and the serving guys were amazing ,full of joy, very attentive. A definite must try.

This is a review of the dinner, as we stayed at a different lodge. Dinner is a served on the gorgeous rooftop patio. It is a fixed price meal - fun cocktails, delicious assortment of curries served family style, finished with exquisite trio sample of desserts served individually. Local band and singer entertained throughout the meal. Service was so friendly. All inspired by New York transplant, Emerson Skeens, who fell in love with Zanzibar in 1989, and stayed and invested in preserving some of the buildings.

Superb accommodation in Zanzibar. In the heart of Stone Town is a beautifully restored hotel that once was the home of one of the richest men in the Swahili Empire – Mr Tharia Topan, who served as the principal financial advisor to Sultan Bargash. Today it is still one of the most popular hotels in Zanzibar.

Did not overnight this is a review of the rooftop dinner. Absolutely loved the experience. The service was fantastic, the location was wonderful. From entering the lobby to a warm welcome, to being able to wander up 4 flights of hand built stairs and explore a bit. The menu was excellent, and the final price after the copious wine beer and cocktails seemed more than fair. Can't recommend this experience more!

We stayed at Amber and Green room (incl small kitchen) November 2023.
Our three week stay was wonderfull. We enjoyed our stay !
The atmosphere is very nice and Emerson Hurumzi one of the best hotel we have experienced. We especially enjoyed the swahili culture
The staff at the hotel was very helpfull.

Top Lage mitten in der Altstadt von Stone Town. Nur wenige Minuten Laufzeit zum Hafen. Man konnte die Stadt bequem zu Fuß erkunden. Das Zimmer war wunderschön und das Hotel hatte ein sehr besonderes Flair. Selten so nette und bemühte Mitarbeitende erlebt. Es lohnt sich, das Rooftop Dinner zu buchen! Ein wunderschöner Ausblick über die Stadt und eine tolle Erfahrung.
Der Stadtführer, der vom Hotel vermittelt wurde, war auch eine echte Bereicherung für den Aufenthalt in Stone Town.
