Classic spot. Everything is good. Staff is super knowledgeable and attentive.

Got a yummy porcini meatball dish that was off menu. Ask for it!! We ordered 2. Side of mushrooms was a nice pairing with it. Anchovies for the salad were such a treat!

Fast and attentive service, and tasty food!

Went with a group of four on a Thursday night, Trattoria was lively, but not loud. The mushrooms, shrimp scampi, and bruschetta were all tasty. I'd recommend the gnocchi with the tomato sauce as a main! The only downside to the space is there's only a single bathroom, so depending on how busy it is, there could be a line.

This is my favorite italian restaurant in San Francisco, the closest thing you can get to authentic italian cuisine. The environment is very cozy (that of a traditional trattoria), and the staff is super friendly & helpful, Milo is the best :)

Just happened to stumble into this wonderful restaurant on a rainy holiday Sunday evening and couldn't have had a better experience. Our reservation at Original Joe's was getting bumped out 30-45 minutes so we bailed. Lucky us. It was too loud to even talk at Original Joe's. We'll be returning to Trattoria Contradina in the future.

The restaurant is very nice. Looks like they have concern their local charm.
Italian food is delicious. Basically everything is very typical Italian cuisine.
All the pastas are delicious and very delicious cheese dishes.

I want to try many dishes and everything was delicious. There were some room for improvement when it came to the gnocchis. I know this is a very complicated dish and it takes a lot of time in my case they were a little bit undercooked, but the flavors were there and I have to say it was delicious. If they would’ve left it a a bit longer, that dish would’ve been perfection.

You know the place is very cozy. Delicious. We had a great time here I went with my friends and the food was very good. Even the very typically Italian you will have a great time and I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the food.

Excellent in every way. It's our favorite Italian in the city and we've tried all the new and fancy restaurants. Great food, great drinks (the bartender is the best), great service. It's a cozy, classic atmosphere (great for dates, dinner with out of town friends, catch ups) that feels local to the neighborhood.

My favorites are the Vongole and the Carlesimo. We finish with the tiramisu for dessert.

A nice little hole in the wall Italian spot. Fantastic food. Good atmosphere. Excellent service. I ordered the shrimp scampi appetizer which was great. And then my entree was the fettuccine Verde. So good. Must go back. Will go back! ????

A little bit more personal and genuine than some of the (excellent) establishments which feature all around the Washington Square area of North Beach. Literally one block west from Columbus and suddenly the "tourist vibe" is removed and you're in real San Francisco. This is a good thing!

I hadn't been here before and, on enquiring, it was obviously very busy and the only option was a place at the bar. Turned out to be a bit of a result. I was spoilt beyond expectations by the lovely gentleman keeping bar. And it just felt great.

And then there's the food. This is genuinely freshly cooked Italian cuisine, the chefs clearly working passionately behind the pass, for all to witness. It's obvious the staff have been here a long time. It's got that "accomplished" neighbourhood vibe. Which I love.

Interestingly they offer no steaks. A gamut of pasta options, fish, and much more. I can personally recommend the shrimp scampi starter, pan fried to perfection, and the Saltimbocca, a personal favourite of mine. The devil is in the detail. Everything on the dish is cooked just right. It's not like some places where they add potato to fill up the plate, the potato was in itself delicious. One of my photos demonstrates how much I really mean this.????

I'll be going back here for sure.

This place is amazing. The Roasted Bell Pepper was one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. It was so rich and full of flavor. The Carlesimo was divine and every bite seemed to get better and better. The Tiramisu was very good as well. The service is outstanding.

What an insanely great meal and experience. When seated we were given a brief overview of the menu and information about what dishes are popular. Based on this information, we started with the Roasted Bell Pepper. For something that seems so ridiculously simple, this dish was just out of this world. There was something reminiscent of a chile relleno. It was incredible and I wish I had a recipe to be able to make something remotely similar to it. I ordered the Ravioli Correnti, which was rich and delicious, but I still wasn’t over the bell pepper. We finished with the tiramisu which again, was great… but that bell pepper… The old fashioned was fantastic as well, especially to was down that bell pepper.

I have the BEST Italian food I’ve ever had in the U.S. The food, customer service and atmosphere are amazing. I highly highly recommend the bell pepper appetizer and Mama Fratelli pasta????

Signature appetizer Bruschetta was yummy! Tried couple of pastas, texture of pasta and taste reached my expectations. Loved every dish they sprinkled tons of ???? cheese, puffy ❄️. Talk about the main, Marsala ????= Maiale Saltimbocca????, the way of cooking, savory and presentation were identical????. Sorry I didn’t pay much attention to the details on the menu. Overall, the food was much delicious and better quality than Joe’s and Mona Lisa in the same neighborhood. They had some interesting cocktails too.
Servers were friendly. I had a wonderful nite out with my friend here ????

I had a really amazing experience here with the dishes we ordered. It was so good I forgot to even take photos of the rest of our dishes haha. We chose what our server recommended. He was very honest in telling us we don’t need more pasta dishes than just one. We had 4 dishes total that were very good here and the check was very reasonable for two people. I enjoyed the caesar salad with anchovies. You can actually see the anchovies on the caesar salad when you order with them on. I recommended that. I really liked the sourdough that they bought with our meal. Delicious! I couldn’t get enough of the bread. Overall we had really memorable food and experience. I am so happy my bf found this gem. It is a very small and cozy place inside. It was kind of loud with so many people inside but the food made it worthwhile. I would recommend them! Their food and service is solid.
