I would say this place is just fine. Nothing amazing especially for the price. Ambiance isn’t great, dated decor. Super slow service. Took forever to both place our order and to get our check. I would say from the time we asked for our check to when we got it was about 20 minutes. I’m sure there are better Italian restaurants in North Beach. I’d skip this place.

Food never disappoint at this fine Italian restaurant! We had the fish of the day pasta , grouper, some excellent wine to pair with and discovered the espresso martini for dessert .The dissatisfaction was with service, although knowledgeable and making excellent recommendations, more than 45 minutes wait to get some bread on the table is way too long . There was clearly a lack of staff on the floor , when the food finally arrived, it was piping hot and really delicious.

Great food, long wait but worth it. It was very busy and I went on new years so it's to be expected. Some light issues but overall great place. Definitely go!

I went with my cousin & Chef Umberto. I have to say this restaurant has the Best Pizza I’ve ever had. I had the Margherita style & had mushrooms & organic pears added all I can say is Deeeelicious! ???? Next time I’m in San Francisco I’ll definitely stop by for a meal beyond compare. I must add that all the food is delicious & the service & venue was phenomenal. Stop by for a fantastic meal, but just be prepared to drive around to find a place to park, it’s worth the walk!!!

What a beautiful treasure Ideale is, right in the heart of North Beach. Maurizio, the chef and owner, is from Rome and he is a most gracious host—and cyclist. He serves the most wonderful homemade pastas and sauces, pizzas, freshly baked bread, gorgeous salads, daily fish specials and delectable desserts. Gluten-free pastas are also available and they will custom make any of their entrees to suit anyone’s dietary or eating preferences. The food is so tasty and comforting and the two dining rooms are cozy and nicely decorated. There are two nearby parking garages on Stockton Street if street parking is unavailable. We really enjoyed the Insalata Primavera, the gnocchi with pork ragu sauce, a vegetarian version of the fettuccine with porcini mushrooms and the daily fish special which was a fresh sea bass today. Highly recommend!

Now a North Beach standard, the food, service and ambiance all shine. Classic Italian dishes with creative detours. Cocktails have only enhanced the allure.

It was one of the best Italian dining experiences for us for a long while. It’s great to have such an amazing restaurant neighbor for our own business just a block away!

The pasta here is to die for. We had the carbonara and their daily special of ricotta stuffed ravioli with beef ragu, and both are fantastic!

The veal and prosciutto dish, a traditional Roman dish, was really delicious and a very unique experience, and the seated tuna special was cooked to perfection.

The wine list full of classic Italian regions is a great deal and the bottle prices are really generous here. We found an amazing bottle of 2017 Valpolicella Reposado Superiore that was perfect for the beef ragu for the ravioli.

They have a great selection of house made dessert here as well and we enjoyed all items.

It’s such a romantic perfect restaurant for an intimate dinner for 2 but as great for a group dinner with their large room.

A nice north beach Italian restaurant with friendly service and oily food. The pasta I ordered was with broccoli ragu but was swimming in oil. The bruschetta tasted wonderful.

Super Service. Frisches Brot als Appetizer. Feine Antipasta Platte. Pasta war frisch und sehr fein. Pizza knusprig mit dünnem Teig. Können wir auf jeden Fall empfehlen.
