My wife and I arrived at the hotel around 1pm and they said the room wasn’t ready and it would be 2hr wait. We were extremely tired but said that will be fine. We waited in the bar/ restaurant at the hotel. We ordered some drinks and food. While eating my ravioli I noticed it had very hard rock like substance like sand and gravel that almost broke my teeth. I showed the substance to the waiter and he said it’s normal and it’s just something floral. Floral? Yeah ok! It was absolute hideous dish even without the sand and gravel So after a long wait our room was ready. My wife and I get to our room and I go to lay down and there was loud banging every few seconds and then it would stop. I went to complain after several hours of hearing this. There was a garage underneath us and the banging was coming from there and also coming from a stairwell door. I told the man at the front desk and he said he would switch rooms for us. We waited another couple hours while the banging continued. I told my wife to pack our belongings back up and to go to the lobby. I complained to the man and he basically called me a liar and went up stairs to listen for the sound. He came back and said he didn’t hear it and it must be my imagination. I even mentioned I had a video of the noise and he said that’s still too bad. They didn’t find me another room and told me I would have to listen to the noise. The bellhop was a fine gentleman but the front desk clerk was very rude and unprofessional. They hung up on orbitz booking agent. Funny that they also picked up on the rudeness. We found a very, very nice hotel next door called the Peninsula. It’s like a palace. Very friendly staff, beautiful rooms with amenities. And it’s quite! Very quite! Please don’t go to this hotel. It’s old with no insulation in the walls. This was the worst hotel I have ever been to.

Un sans-faute !
La classe à la française, indémodable, mythique !

The response to the negative reviews was all I needed to book a stay here, and I hope you feel the same.

The carpet was frayed in one corner, the bathroom door didn’t line up perfectly, and there isn’t a power outlet in that one spot you wish it was. It’s home.

It takes everyone involved to make this happen, so thank you to everyone. Thank you to the gentlemen who knocked on my door to ask if we needed anything. Thank you to the people who make sure we arrive safely from the entryway. Thank you to the many people in between who made it feel like a home and not a transaction.

An experience like this is priceless. Come with love and everyone at Hotel Raphael will give it right back.
