ORIENT GUESTHOUSE /AUBERGE

Nice budget lodging with a short walk to the local GSR market and short walk to the water where I could launch my SUP and paddle around the bay. Prices are good and staff is friendly and helpful. Local Mauritian neighborhood with 15 minute access to the airport, also Blue Bay, Pont D'esny Beach and Beau Valon shopping mall.

The usual check-in time for hotels in Mautitius is around 2 or 3 pm. Our flight landed in the morning and we needed a place to freshen up. Hotel Orient Guesthouse Auberge was a perfect, pocket-friendly choice, located 15 minutes from the airport, in the heart of Mahebourg! The rooms are clean, the shower has running hot water, there is a water dispenser in the common area (a blessing, since even the airport doesn’t have one), and there is a small common balcony and roofed terrace from where one can enjoy a stunning view of the sea.
Our gracious and friendly host, Mr Shafeek, helped us plan our day. Even though we had booked a full day’s stay (and informed in advance that we would be checking in only the next day early morning), he gave us a reduced tariff. He said that since we were using the room only for a couple of hours, he didn’t feel good about charging the full amount. What a sweet and kind gesture!
We shall definitely be returning to Hotel Orient Guesthouse Auberge on our next vacation.
