Having read the reviews, we were a little uncertain if we should book. Glad we did. Rustic boutique beachside chic! Relaxing atmosphere.

Location
Taxi from stone town approx .$40-50. 60-90 mins.
Located on quiet side road in nungei village. Few shop and local restaurants around.
The aquarium (swimming with turtles) is located minutes walk away.

Beach
Not a completely private beach, a few locals dotted around but mainly undisturbed. No nice shore to sunbathe on. Very rocky.
Low tide and the start of the day, by 2pm it starts to get very high until approx 8pm. Waves can make it hard to swim in but lovely when possible. Nungwi beach is approx 5 mins away. Kendwa is approximately 10-15 mins away.
Lots of loungers & hammocks across the decking and by the pool. Beautiful views of the ocean/horizon.

Rooms
Authentic rustic boutique feel. Fixtures/fittings a little tired. Lots of little insects in the bathroom(can be expected given the location). Ground floor room very spacious and easy access to the beach/bar.
Comfortable bed covered by a mosquito net. Rainfall shower only, no handheld option. Appreciated the brochure about the history of the hotel.
Decent strength wifi across the grounds.
Iron available on request.

Service
Amazing staff. Professional service and very helpful.
Andrew has a very warming character and always went the extra mile for us.
A lady approached each table during breakfast and requested feedback from guests and was quick to attempt to rectify any issues where possible.
It’s clear good customer service is a priority for the team here.

Food
Breakfast was not the best. Basic to say the least and was always swarming with flys/bees.
However the food available from the restaurant menu was delicious. 10/10. Excellent seafood options, reasonably priced. Menu is all in dollars. Pay tab on checkout.

Overall
I would stay here again but for approximately 4 nights max. We are a young couple- might get a little bored.

Happy hour would be a great addition.

Un lieu exceptionnel pour sa tranquillité et son cadre. Le personnel y est très charmant et professionnel. Une végétation luxuriante fait de cet hôtel un vrai avre de paix. Aucun "beach boy" a l'horizon, de quoi rendre le séjour encore plus confortable.
Nous avions une vue exceptionnelle de notre chambre.
Enfin, nous avons la chance de de vivre un massage, face à la mer, qui était magnifique et surtout grâce à la masseuse.
Pour un séjour reposant il faut venir ici... ????

Located just next to Baraka aquarium. service, food, beverages,room, location everything was great, a/c mostly dint work at all somehow managed- it needs maintainance

Esperienza magnifica in un luogo meraviglioso. Camere pulite, servizi completi e personale gentilissimo con le nostre 2 bambine un pò rumorose... Cucina buona, forse solo un pò poco varia. Speriamo di poter tornare al più presto!

Wundervolle Lage, etwas abseits des touristischen Teil. Kann man einfach mal die Seele baumeln lassen. Der Pool ist etwas flach und klein, aber das Meer ist ja direkt am Hotel und auch der Wellnessbereich ist Klasse. Die Betten sind sehr gemütlich und man kann gut schlafen, ich war rundum zufrieden.
Der touristischen Teil ist auch gut in 10-15 Minuten zu Fuss erreichbar:)

Personnel aux petits soins. Les chambres sont très spacieuses et très propres. Les repas et le petit-déjeuner sont très correct et le service est top, nous y avons passé quelques jours et nous avons beaucoup appréciés.

Rooms are good, only that there is no coffee corner or fridges in the rooms.

Estamos muy descontentos con este hotel ,porque nos han entrado en la habitación estando nosotros dentro a las 5:00 Am , no sé qué hubiera pasado si no llegásemos a estar ahí , no nos quieren enseñar la hora exacta en la que entran por las cámaras , casualmente se rompe nuestra cámara Justo a esa hora las demás de otras habitaciones no .. nos enseñan antes y después .. pero no la hora exacta en la que nos entran ,también tengo que decir que el hotel de día no te puedes bañar por que la marea es baja y todo es roca no es arena como te pintan en las fotos .. vamos todo un error hospedarnos en este hotel conclusión : tener mucho cuidado con el tema de los robos por que aquí te roban en un descuido .

Wir wurden ausgesprochen herzlich empfangen und aufgrund eines Missverständnisses bei der Ankunft (der über eine Buchungsplattform vorgenommenen Reservierung - wofür aber das Hotel nichts kann) wurde wirklich alles möglich gemacht um unser Urlaubserlebnis zu einem der schönsten überhaupt zu machen.
Das ganze Team ist überaus zuvorkommend und herzlich, die ganze Anlage liebevoll gepflegt und sehr sauber, das hoteleigene Restaurant bietet tolles Essen und an der Hotelbar lassen sich bei atemberaubender Aussicht herrliche Cocktails, Fruchtdrinks und Kaffeespezialtäten genießen.
Und die Lage ist wirklich kaum zu übertreffen!

I had an amazing experience at Mnarani beach cottages, would highly recommend! The beach side view is amazing, the hotel was very clean and the customer service is very good. There is always staff on hand 24/7 to help with any queries you have, they planned out loads of different things for me to do whilst I stayed there. Mnarani beach cottages has a very private and exclusive feel to it which gives you that amazing guest experience which you wish for. Overal 10/10 experience, food at the hotel was also amazing. Will definitely be back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mnarani Beach Cottages in the beautiful location of Nungwi, Zanzibar, and I must say it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived until the day of my departure, the hotel's service, friendly staff, breathtaking room, and stunning beach view exceeded all my expectation.. I can’t wait to return to this little piece of paradise in the future.

I had the wonderful opportunity of staying at Mnarani Beach Cottages for around one week. Words can explain my experience with them. The staff were so accommodating, courteous, and respectful. The food was delicious! I recommend the seafood pizza and the grilled seafood platter. ???? My room was so clean and cool, and I had an amazing view of the ocean, coconut trees, and beautiful island flowers. My surroundings were quiet, which I enjoyed very much because I was working as well as relaxing ???? I felt very safe as there were a couple of watchmen strolling the grounds. Although, the island of Zanzibar is pretty much a very safe place.
If you are looking for relaxation, hospitality, and beauty, you must spend a few nights here. You will not regret it!
