bathrooms are nice, park is really nice. i love how you get in free with america the beautiful pass. great place to visit if yiu havent been. bring sand toys, snacks, and chairs
Enjoyed walking through park. Ruins of a sugar plantation remain and it was fascinating touring the grounds. There was a short trail, a pier, and a splash pad for kids. Listened to a cover band playing while I was here. Recall that they also have cabins available for rental.
Park was flooded in spots from rain. Our RV pad had tons of ant mounds. Our fire pit was never cleaned & had boards with nails stacked in it. A lady had a large dog in ladies restroom ???? + kept yelling it's ok .she's friendly ????.
Our small Maltese dog was attacked by a German Shepherd who was chained @ a tent camp site , that dog viciously broke off his chain & attacked my dog ????????????.Tons of mosquitoes ????
Showers are push button..either scalds you or you freeze! Bathrooms & laundry room spotless...$1.75 to wash $1.75 to dry!
This is one of the best state parks we have camped in so far. The crew is super friendly and helpful. The batrooms are in very good condition and are being cleaned daily - have sent worst bathrooms on commercial campgrounds. Overall campground and park are very well-kept.
Great state Park. Quite a few mosquitos, to be expected, you're in a swamp. Saw a lot of deer when we pulled in. Some of the sites don't have water, but there are clean bathrooms with showers and laundry available. The volunteer at check in was great, the state employee could use a little more training.
It's not much of a park. There are a few poorly marked trails that often flood. It's been obvious that nothing is done to maintain the premises aside from mowing the grass around the parking lot.
I love this park. Over 100 camping spots available ranging from full hookups to primitive camping. Nice Beach area along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Nature trails, history, cabins on the lake, and awesome wildlife. Something for everyone.
The park itself was great. Met some great people as well. The terrible part was a "neighbor" from Illinois who seemed to think everybody else at the park would appreciate their choice of old people's music. But...everything else was fantastic, the park, the rangers, the other campers, etc. etc.
This is a beautiful and clean park. The staff is very nice and helpful. Above and beyond anything I have seen. It has been a great camping experience. Can’t wait to come back someday. Thanks to everyone here at the park!!
This state park is a treasure. A huge, brick pool house stands as an reminder of the state's history . Reportedly the park once had a public swimming pool, but filled it in response to desegregation . Now there is an odd span of grass and no swimming pool. Still it's a nice place to watch for birds (gulls, kites, eagles...) and stroll through the woods. It has lots of photogenic Old Oaks with Spanish moss. The small Beach is nice for summer.
