Hotel room was average, nothing special. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. On site restaurants are confusing regarding hours of service, whether reservations were needed for dinner, and locations-never found the Wild Rose Tavern.
Ice cream parlor needs to extend their hours, and services. Only hotel services in the park so there is a convenience factor, but could be so much more.

To be fair I have been around Death Valley a handful of times over the past 10 years. But this is the first and last time I would stay in Furnace Creek.

While this might rate very high for many this is more of a country club in the middle of Death Valley. Cross between a theme park blended with cabins and those of us that enjoy the outdoors. I like to gaze at the night sky and this location has not even tried to minimize light pollution at night.

Location is the only reason some might stay but I will not be back. Also for nearly $600 for one night in the cabin I could spend multiple nights in other Death Valley locations with more of what I call the desert experience.

Death Valley and the Ranch are amazing! It’s easily one of the best hotel experiences at a National Park and it’s basically brand new. The resort itself is just gorgeous. The breakfast is a little pricey but good, Wild Rose Tavern has good prices and good food. Wild Rose easily had the best service of their several restaurants/food service areas.

However, I would avoid the Saloon at all costs. The staff was quite rude, my $50-$60 T-bone was about a quarter of an inch thick and full of gristle. My wife got the flat iron which I’m pretty sure was the stub end of a leftover sirloin and was raw in the middle. We love rare steaks and eat steak quite often. It was a mistake ordering steak at the Saloon. You may get in there and get carried away with what’s inarguably a cool Disney-esque atmosphere and think, steak probably isn’t that bad here. You’ll soon be wrong and disappointed. You get a baked potato with sour cream, butter, and bagged shredded cheese as toppings on a paper plate. One kid got the pasta and I’d wager it was somewhere around 85% sauce and the sauce itself was “too sweet” for a 12 year old. Think about that for a second. My other kid got the ribs and they were undercooked. A rib should not falloff the bone, but the meat ideally should be able to be separated from the bone. Overpriced, not good, bad service. 0 stars for the Saloon. That place is terrible. I’ve had better food and service from a street cart in the bad areas of foreign countries.

Other than the Saloon, the Ranch was just gorgeous. It is such an interesting experience to have luxury like that in Death Valley!

Loved every minute of it. Death Valley itself was a surreal experience and is now my second favorite National Park behind Yellowstone, and I’ve been to many NPs.

Death Valley is incredible and definitely worth a visit. The landscape is stunning. The Ranch at Death Valley needs some help. Though they mention that a major renovation has been done, the rooms are very basic. The mattresses (we had a room with 2 double beds) were awful. I am getting a massage today because sleeping on them hurt my back. The food in all the restaurants is overpriced and nothing special. But the buffet restaurant was especially awful. The food was horrendous, the tables were never bussed, no service at all. In general the service at the hotel was non existent. No one answered the phone at the front desk. I have been charged 3 times on two different credit cards for the same stay and have not yet been able to get the charges reversed. This hotel is a major dissapointment.

The 80s called and want their rooms back.
It was incredibly hard to get a reservation at The Ranch, and once we did, we felt that because of the cost per night there was no need to bring our own food since the local amenities (2 restaurants, one buffet, one ice-cream parlor, and a general store) would be more than sufficient.
The website photos are very outdated. The rooms were old and weathered. We were told upon check in that there would be no room service provided during our time there, so to call the front desk if we needed anything (thankfully we didn't, and we were ok with no room service).
The restaurant (the saloon) on the property requires reservations which you can ONLY make it through the website, which if you don't have a good internet connection while you're there, and you do it two days in advance, you can't get a table. The restaurant hostesses were very inattentive and rude on both occasions I reached out the them (I walked over to make reservation and was told they were sold out for both nights). When we were finally able to get a reservation, the wait staff was kind and understanding, but the menu is very very limited.
The first night we ate at the buffet ($40 x person) since we didn't have another option. The best thing was the salad. Everything else was very overcooked and over flavored (burgers, hotdogs, steamed vegetables, a lasagna, brisket that seemed like puree, and mashed potatoes). Even the desserts were pretty bad.
With that experience, the second night we bought ramen cups from the general store, Hawaiian bread and packaged sliced cheese and just ate ramen (with hot water from the coffee maker) and cheese sandwiches in the room.
We also tried the ice cream parlor and it was a huge disappointment as well. The parlor is cute, but the ice cream (we each got a different flavor) all tasted exactly the same.

We travel a lot of and have visited most of the national parks on the west part of the US and the hotels and restaurants are owned by the same hotel group (Xanterra) and the experience is just as crappy everywhere. Because of the website we thought this one might just be different, but it was not the case.
Splurge on the cost of the room because it's inside the park and after a long day hiking it's good to have a shower close by, but bring your own food and lower your expectations way down in terms of amenities.
I want to support the staff that works at these parks so that we can all have a great experience, but these corporations need to do a significantly better job of investing in their properties and their personnel.

Rooms dated and not clean.
Staff grumpy.
Great location. Sadly a captive audience hotel with so much potential.

Luxurious retreat midst wilderness of the desert. If possible book two cabins side by side

We had a great two night stay here! I always research and read reviews so I was not expecting a 5 star hotel and this is what I expected it to be. You’re paying for the convenience of being in the park. The hotel grounds itself were fantastic! There were a lot of great activities, pool was large and nice. The General store was great and had a lot of great souvenir selections that the visitor center did not have. Food is expensive but to be expected for being in the middle of nowhere. Staff were all friendly and helpful and kids enjoyed the ice cream parlor. The room itself was average. Almost a motel feel but I did like that all rooms had a private patio or balcony. We had a 1st floor patio view of the golf course which was really nice. The cottages are probably a lot more nicer but since we were only staying two nights and hiking during the day we opted for a hotel room. However, if staying longer i would prefer the cottages. They looked nice and spacious. My only negative would be the food and restaurants. We did not make reservations ahead of time to the Saloon and there was no availability during our stay and we tried to eat at The Tavern but they were so packed they couldn’t accommodate us for dinner. We only had a choice of the Buffett which was fine. However, being the only place for food the restaurants need to be able to accommodate the amount of guests. Overall we had a great stay and would stay here again.

This was a bucket list for us and was a disappointment. The service and food were poor. Yet priced at resort rates. Definitely not worth the prices of the rooms, restaurant, shop, etc. There’s lesser advertised lodging in the area. Not much to do on this property anyway but buy more overpriced things.

This place was as expected. After reading reviews my expectations were low, so there were no surprises. It was a typical motel room. Dated and need of updating and repairs, but fine. We spent two nights here…just enough to everything we wanted to see in Death Valley.

Locks on bathroom don't work, can hear neighbors through walls, no cups provided for brushing teeth, way too expensive for such a location, shower is completely open. Need I say more?

We just returned from a stay at The Ranch at Death Valley, we were camping at the Fiddler’s Creek campground, part of the The Ranch property. The campground is nothing but a glorified gravel parking lot. There are some nice trees on the far side of the campground and I would recommend trying to get one of those spaces. No hookups at all and the restrooms were dirty with no toilet paper and light. The showers are located about a 10 minute walk from the campground at the resort pool and were also dirty. The pool was really filthy with trash and dirt on the bottom. It was spring break, weather was hot and very busy, so why would they let this happen?? When I mentioned the restroom situation and pool to the front desk staff, they just shrugged and said they would let the staff know. No wi-fi connectivity anywhere on the property!

Just had a couple of drinks here in the bar, nice but expensive.

The primary reason to stay here is the location. The resort area is nice enough and the grounds do make it feel like an oasis in death valley. However the rooms were not as clean as you would hope and the beds and pillows are some of the least comfortable I've had at a hotel. There was a mini fridge in the room and a washer/dryer combo unit that took nearly 4 hours for a cycle. Unfortunately there was no microwave.

Amazing location. Comfortable, tranquil rooms. Spring fed pool

Stayed in the cottages, which were beautiful, comfortable, and very quiet, especially since most have a cottage on the left and behind you. If I were to make any suggestions, I would recommend turing the area above the washer/dryer area to a station for coffee/tea and other food/snacks that a family might bring for their stay. Will definitely return.

Hotel right in the middle of Death Valley, with a great structure.
Very beautiful and with options of attractions, such as horseback riding, bike rental and golf. For those who like souvenir shops, there are 2 stores from what I saw, one of them with food and other things that can help those in the desert.
The cottage is clean and big.
I found the values of the food expensive, and in the matter of cleaning, there was cigarette gumba under the seat cushion, and the seat is dirty. But the room is perfect clean.
But overall I liked it a lot.

We enjoyed this location for what it was. Everything was ok with a few small exceptions. This location is not for those which are looking for a nightlife or late night activities but is great as a centralized location to head off and see the sights of Death Valley. Our stay was brief but pleasant enough.

Food and supply costs are high (as with most destination locations) and the services closed relatively early (7 pm). We ate dinner in the saloon one evening which was quite good.

Overall a good stay for us.
