My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. Sarah was at the reception and yes she is very kind and was able to give us an upgrade that was highly appreciated!!
The room that we got was epic!! Great view

First, let me say my low rating is entirely based on the location of the hotel - not the rooms or staff. Our room was lovely and the staff were helpful, friendly, and responsive.
About the location - there is a significant homeless encampment directly across from the hotel. This means if you intend to walk any place within the area, you’ll have to navigate through this. We walked to a nearby store (which was guarded heavily by security) and a pizza place (where the worker had to address an incident with a homeless person while we were there), and to the San Diego Civic Theatre (where someone came up behind my granddaughter and I and began shouting at us). While my heart absolutely breaks for the unhoused, the whole area immediately around the hotel doesn’t seem to be safe for walking. One note: the entrance to the hotel was fine so if you plan to drive/uber places, and not walk around the area, you’ll be fine and the hotel itself is nice.

I usually go there to the piano bar on Fridays. Love the ambiance and the people that i meet there. The decore is beautiful.

Super cool hotel with awesome staff. The rooms are big and clean. They have an awesome outside gym and pool too.

Whilst the photos of the place look nice, I personally never visited or stayed here. This place accepted payment from an unauthorized card holder and my debit card was charged as a result. Whoever the guest was spent $1,200 and I am left trying to recover the funds.

My son and I stayed at the hotel for his birthday. The general manager wrote a hand written letter welcoming us, and there was chilled lemonade and fresh made chocolate left for us in our room upon arrival. Franky set it up for us, and was genuinely so kind and helpful when we arrived. Johnny at the front desk was welcoming and provided us with good information for our stay. The whole hotel has a lovely, clean scent. We enjoyed the lap pool, the comfy beds, and the hot tub. What a wonderful experience! Thanks, Westgate, for making this a memorable birthday celebration for my son.

The Westgate is a gorgeous, classic, elegant hotel. The staff is amazing, from Rod the manager to the housekeeping. They are friendly, attentive, and do their jobs with the utmost professionalism. I will be staying here with my next visit to San Diego. 5 Stars for sure!

Great value hotel in the heart of Downtown San Diego. About half the price of a similar hotel next door, the U.S. Grant. Ornate European style lobby with 40’s and 50’s background music. Afternoon tea served in the lobby for the fancy ladies. Rooms are largish, clean, but a little dated. The hotel is in general is a bit dated and seems overdue for renovation but is still perfectly acceptable. Security could be better - no door latch, no in room valuables safe box, light or no security presence although elevators require a room key to activate. The roof top pool deck is amazing with outdoor fitness machines, lounge chairs, and a really hot spa pool, along with a normal pool suitable for lane swimming. A gem! Westgate is one of the best value hotels in San Diego. Go before it’s sold, renovated, and 3X price!!

Loved staying there, the rooms are very big and clean. You feel like royalty when there. Location is also fantastic. The staff was so helpful and nice. Will come back!!

I loved this hotel! It is an older hotel as other reviews say, but has wonderful charm and class that you won’t find in contemporary hotels. My room was spacious and comfortable and I loved the old school craftsmanship evident in the architecture and details like marble tiling, intricate faucets and handles, and carved moldings. The lobby is welcoming and bright and there is always music playing which fits the ambience and class of the hotel. One evening they had a harpist playing, which was lovely! The people were all so nice and had a genuine attitude of service with a smile that is all too rare these days. The meeting facilities were very good and the catering for breakfast and snacks was delicious! The hotel was in a safe area close to good options for lunch and dinner and 15-20 minutes walk from the Gas Lamp area and convention center or the Embarcadero. I felt very safe walking around the area. I will definitely stay at this hotel again and next time I will be sure to enjoy their spa!

The hotel is beautiful but the service takes it to another level. Everyone was so accommodating and anxious to help. We held a conference here and from start to finish the staff was amazing!

They have a large trash bin side by side with the main entrance for 3 days. No free services, no breakfast

Elegant describes the Westgate ambience. Stepping inside transports you to the traditional 19th century hotel grandeur. We were there for a fund raising event. Excellent venue. Dinner was nicely served but both the salmon and the vegetarian option were disappointing. Event food does not have to taste like steam table.

I absolutely loved this hotel. The lobby of this hotel is stunning and the rooms are fabulous as well. The staff was always so friendly and helpful, and the amenities were top notch. I like that housekeeping comes daily and that the hotel is centrally located downtown. It's very easy to walk just about anywhere, and the trolley has a stop right outside of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this location.

المنطقة حول الفندق غير امنه يوجد الكثير من المشردين حول ممشى الفندق الرئيسي والمترو جنبك وخيام المشردين قريبة .

تامين ياخذ من الفيزا / 150 دولار اليوم ( لم يرجع بعد اسبوع علما ان الفنادق الاخرى رجع بعد يومين وتم تسجيل الخروج وسحب مرة اخرى من الفيزا 186 دولار اليوم الثاني وتم التواصل معهم وبعد جدال على الايميل قالو انها بترجع وتم سحبها بالغلط من النظام بعد ارسال صورة الوصل عند الخروج استلمته وتم التواصل معاي بعدها وتعديل الفاتوره والى الان بعد لم يرجع المبلغ )
