Really good pizza and salads, we walked by and saw people eating and the pizza looked delicious so my daughter made sure we ate there at some point on our trip and it did not disappoint. Loved the ambiance of old school pizza parlor. The house salad was simple but delicious. The service was fast and attentive.

Awesome place. Reminded me of the old days where I grew up. And the pizzas,,,, good and reasonably priced.

Wonderful place. I have been dining at Filippi's for over 50 years. This location is newer but the food is perfect.

It was a true delight! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a warm and welcoming staff. But the real star of the show was the pizza - perfectly crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and generous toppings. I opted for the classic margherita and was not disappointed. We came here after concert on Saturday.... the staff was extremely nice. We had everything pizza ??? Not sure but the pizza was fabulous!!!!

Mark my word when I say that no other place has mastered a pasta sauce like Filippi's has. The excellent service is a perfect compliment to the friendly and welcoming environment, and even though there was a small line, it only took around 10 minutes for 3 of us to be seated and greeted immediately. Will definitely come back for more!!

I like the feel of the dining area.
The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. We had pizza,lasagna,salad and garlic bread. The server was rather attentive, but did not bring some napkins the first time requested. Had to ask again.

Honestly first time here & I loved it, Food is actually really good and the atmosphere is home feeling. Me & my girlfriend went in the evening surprisingly the lady that took our name for a table set it up with a little candlelight on our table for two. Super cute. Definitely recommend the spaghetti and meatballs.!! And the garlic bread is fresh hot and crispy. Highly recommend as well.

I went around 8pm on Wednesday. The wait was about 20 minutes. Ordered margherita pizza, meatball spaghetti, shrimp filippi, and tiramisu. The server forgot to punch in garlic bread so I didn't get to eat that, but food portions were big. I'm glad he forgot : ) Food was amazing and staff were patient. I would definitely go here again.

Terrible! I was extremely disappointed with the pizza. There was an excessive amount of cheese that overwhelmed the taste of the pizza. Honestly, it tasted like biting into a flip flop covered in low-quality cheese. I couldn't understand how anyone could enjoy it. Overall, a regrettable dining experience that I wouldn't recommend to others.

Man the foods amazing but the prize is insane. I normally go to the Chula Vista location but I went to a different one this time since it was closer but damn same price and it’s a personal pizza. I feel scammed I feel like they should inform the customer or at least add a large option when ordering online so we know that the one selected is not a large

Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Little Italy is a slice of heaven! Their pizza is always fresh and flavorful, and the cozy ambiance adds to the dining experience. A must-visit for pizza lovers in San Diego!

I wanted to acknowledge the several positive reviews, the history of the establishment, and believe that it would be my experience as well. We waited in the alley in the grocery store for several minutes and it didn’t seem like they needed customers. SEVERAL employees passed us (even if they might not have been the seating host) and not one cared to greet or acknowledge us, forget about offering any assistance in getting seated. The food was decent, but not spectacular. Watery marinara (we had a spectacular one further up the street) and our eggplant parm sub wasn’t much to write about. Ambience in our area (looked like an extension) wasn’t great.

Caution, the food is HUGE! Our waitress, Tina, is the best! We ordered Chicken Parmigiana dinner. It comes with side of lasagna (recommend) or spaghetti/ravioli and soup, salad, and garlic bread. Super full for two. Their pizza looks amazing. We would love to come back for it.

I looked at my phone for two minutes and when I looked up, there was a sizable square of lasagna in front of me. I don’t think McDonald’s could have gotten me my food faster than she did. I was really impressed. And the quality was sooo much better than Mickey Ds. Solid marinara and buttery homemade pasta.
As for portion size, I was more than satisfied; I can’t help but wonder what the regular-sized lasagna is like ????).
After that, I was feeling adventurous, so I tried a cannoli. I’m not normally a huge cannoli fan. This one converted me. So flaky and creamy. Shout-out to Erin for being an incredible waitress and her on-point recommendations!
Finally, you can’t beat the ambiance of this place. It has a deli/convenience store with Italian products you can only find there. The ceiling is covered in empty bottles of Italian wine that you can purchase and if you finish it, they let you add it to the restaurant’s decor. Such a cool idea! Will be coming back to try the pizza!
