Food was excellent. Service was not. Once food was delivered to table, waiter did not return until 15 minutes or more after we finished eating, no offer to fill drinks, if we liked it or see if we needed anything. Asked about dessert, but we did not want any. Waited another 15+ minutes watching him wait on rest of tables in our little room, but not us. Finally we requested bill, so he then picked up most of our plates but asked one of the ladies at our table to hand him hers. She did and then he asked for her silverware too. Apparently it was too much for him to go around our small table to do it himself. Not what I expected from a restaurant of this caliber.

Innanzitutto voglio fare i complimenti al cameriere che è stato impeccabile e molto professionale. Abbiamo passato una bella serata tra amici degustando un ottimo menù, ci torneremo molto volentieri

Excellent repas, moi qui cherchait du poisson frais et n’en ai pas trouvé alentours qui inspirait confiance, je n’ai pas été déçue ! (Sea bass). Ce fut excellent
Également les pâtes carbo et l’escalope milanaise ont étés appréciées par mon partenaire.
Le pain aux olives et la boulette de poisson sauce tomate très bonnes !
Très bon service également, très agréable

I had a steak antricot with fried potatos. Disappointed!!!
Made well done, I must say I did buy a steak in one of the supermarket's in the area and made it will simple pan and it was much better. At home i use smoker and I really know how to make a good steak. The service was great and the waiter was really nice. But, As a michlein restaurant I expected a really high quality, the experience was exactly the same as highway restaurant. One word disappointment.

Che dire?.. Ambiente friendly-chic, servizio impeccabile, vino buono, cibo ottimo. Orata freschissima, spinata e ben impiattata dal maitre sotto i nostri occhi. La cena perfetta dopo una giornata sul lago Maggiore.

Une très belle découverte à Baveno. Nous avons très bien mangé, je n'ai jamais mangé une viande de porc cuit de cette façon, un régale et le service au top.

Sottosopra was my favorite restaurant in Baveno until 1st september. We ate salmon tartar (ok), raviolli with cod and cremy
sauce with clams (very, extremely salty the sauce -just taste of salt) and lemon and pepper taliollini con zucchini and prawns (even the tortellini had not the previous taste).Service was ok.
i think the chef has changed. We could't eat raviolli and they gave us 10 % discount. They told us that the clams was very salty.
We paid the whole bill with charge and 10% waiter's tip. It is not about money but about the quality. We also ate sorbet . (OK)

Primo, non ho mai fatto una recensione per un ristorante, però in questo caso è necessario. Essendo abituato a mangiare bene ci vuole molto a stupirmi. Questo ristorante ci è riuscito. I pochi piatti assaggiati preparati con un evidente passione per le arti culinarie mi hanno profondamente colpito. Poi c’è il maitre che trasmetteva la passione per il suo lavoro tanto di pensare che fosse il proprietario che risultava invece essere lo chef stesso. Se fossi rimasto più a lungo a Baveno, sarei tornato quotidianamente ad assaggiare tutti i piatti del menu. Ovviamente 5 stelle +.

We had a fantastic dinner at Sotto Sopra! The pasta dishes were all cooked perfectly and my son and I shared a beautiful Rib steak which was sourced locally and Delicious.

Definitely worth a visit if you are travelling through Baveno or nearby.

Recommend it to all.

Der Service war freundlich, hat jedoch viel Zeit in Anspruch genommen. Die Vorspeisen waren lecker, haben aber 60 Minuten gebraucht um serviert zu werden. Die primis (in unserem Fall pasta) waren sehr fad im Geschmack. Der Geschmack ist den Preis nicht wert. Desserts waren gut.

Scortesi come mai. Siamo arrivati alle 20.15 senza prenotazione e abbiamo chiesto se per caso ci fosse un tavolo libero per due. Il signore all’entrata ci dice di ripassare “fra 10, 20 o 30 minuti” siamo arrivati quindi 30 minuti dopo, e appena il signora ci vede sentiamo “ancora ! Ma com’è possibile !” Con un tono arrabbiato. Beh è vero che è strano vedere gente che vuole un tavolo in un ristorante…. Poi arriva scocciato dicendo “no no non c’è posto sono arrivati tutti arrivederci”. Senza neanche lasciarci il tempo di parlare.
Andate negli altri ristoranti intorno, sarete sicuramente trattati meglio.

Im Außenbereich gesessen und zu Mittag gegessen. Bedienung war schnell und sehr freundlich. Haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Alle Gänge waren schön angerichtet. Zwischen den Gängen war die Zeit richtig gewählt. Schöne Weinkarte.

En couple. Moment très sympathique, service à l’écoute et très attentionné. Plats excellents. Mobilier en plastique un peu en décalage avec la qualité des plats et du service. Toutefois nous recommandons vivement !
