Where to start…
We booked the hotel for two relaxing days for our honeymoon. We got the Annex Waterfront Bungalow.
As soon as we got into the room we were shocked and disappointed: old bathroom made of plastic, old furniture with obvious signs of damage; just a window to the water and a window to a wall (??) in the bathroom. On the outside, and even thought in the hotel pictures looked like a private beach area, sun beds were like less than a meter away from our neighbors. For reaching our room we have to cross an area than seemed not part of the hotel.
We went into the reception to complaint about the room and asked for a change and it took them 15 minutes to give us an option to change. The option? The last bungalow of the hotel (like within 15 mn walking from pool are and reception) with NO windows at all (in front of the beach!) and the private beach, although “private”, was two meters away from a small harbor with boats. Even with new furniture, it was not acceptable. We were offered another room at a higher category paying a higher price. We refused both options and decided to live. While doing the luggage back again we got a call from the reception offering the higher category room at no cost at all saying that “it is what they normally offer other people when they complain” which it seems like they do have this problem quite often.
I was not -nor my husband- in a 5-star hotel to bargain; are we crazy?
They insisted in that what we had it was we paid for, our “category”. If paying +450€ / night gives me a room with damaged furniture and a terrible attention from the desk, please sign me out. If they do have a bad category within a five star ranked hotel, better to mention beforehand. It is worth mentioning that we had better furniture and equipment while in less “luxurious” hotels around Crete.
Regretfully our worst experience in all the trip.
