Excellent spot: right on the main square with prime viewing of local life, including "local old man" bar next door, plus they do good food and great wines. The owner, George, really knows his stuff and is passionate about local produce, so you can try Cretan olive oil and honey for free, and do an excellent tailored Cretan wine tasting at great value. And they can cater for vegans, which is not always easy to find! Everything is also available to buy from his deli.

Metti una giornata di fine novembre, una passeggiata tra le vigne di Archanes alla scoperta dei vini della zona… e poi, un pranzo inatteso tra i tavolini all'aperto nella bella piazza del villaggio con un'ampia proposta di mezè, una più buona dell'altra, ottimo vino ed il servizio attento e gentile di Susana e Giorgos…
Il cibo è ispirato alla cucina cretese, ma non è il solito, tradizionale e spesso ripetitivo, tutto è preparato con attenzione da Susana che sa come rivisitare i piatti con creatività e gusto.... e per un abbinamento perfetto con il vino, basta chiedere a Giorgos!
Il meglio? Le pite con il finocchietto ("maratho") e quelle con gruviera e "apaki" (maiale), l'insalata agli 11 legumi condita con un olio eccezionale, il "risotto" alla cretese, e poi... strepitosa la cheesecake al gusto "baklava" con noci e miele e squisita la "pita sfakion", una specie di crêpe farcita con formaggio ...
Cosa dire di più? Consigliato se vi trovate da queste parti, una sosta vale assolutamente la pena!

Food was good, service was excellent. We visited Bakaliko with our one year old son. We are vegetarian and had more than enough choice. Starters were niet, the risotto could be better. The dessert was magnificant.
Besides the food the waitress was very helpfull, professional and advising. She also had a lot of attention for our son and she made our evening to a big success.
A true recommendation for this restaurant!

Unglaublich freundliche Bewirtung mit zusätzlichen leckeren griechischen Köstlichkeiten. Der Salat des Tages mit frischen Feigen war sensationell!

Amazing shop ???? with restaurant. Friendly service. Delicious food. Fair prices! Must visit when in Archeles. Try the cinnamon ice cream and the watermelon salad with cheese. Too good ????

Das Restaurant mit Feinkostgeschäft bietet traditionelle Gerichte der Insel. Wir haben hier einen Snack mit Fava, Oliven, Olivenpaste und Pita genossen, alles sehr gut. Im Geschäft hat uns der Chef beraten und wir konnten Olivenöl verkosten. Die Olivenpaste, die wir zuvor gegessen haben, wird zum Verkauf angeboten, haben ein Glas für zuhause mitgenommen.

Sehr nettes Restaurant mit sehr freundlichen Personal/Besitzer .Tolles Essen super Weine sehr zu empfehlen. Leider konnten wir nur 1mal dort sein wären gerne häufiger vorbei gekommen.

Sehr gutes Restaurant mit ausgewählten Gerichten, die raffiniert serviert werden. Passende Weinbegleitung mit Hintergrundwissen zum jeweiligen Glas vom tollen Gastgeber. Ein Stück Südfrankreich auf Kreta ????

At the recommendation of our tour guide, Panos from Tourist Guides Crete, we stopped at Bakaliko for a meal during a stay in Crete and our experience was truly wonderful on many different levels. First of all, the food itself was amazing; we would go back for that reason alone. However, the owner, George was kind enough to pair all of our dishes with a wine that complemented the dish and delivered a world-class experience. We enjoyed the wines he selected so much that we brought home several of them to share with friends. An experience you should not miss.

We wanted to go to another tavern that night even if it was recommended by friends but we stepped by and the stuff didn‘t disappoint ???? They promised a table and made some jokes and so we came back and ate there. Lovely food, a great wine card, nice people, good raki - perfect evening for us with a lot of laughs ????

Amazing wine choice - some of the best wines from all over the Greece, some served in top restaurant in Athens incl. the ones surrounding Four Seasons there.
Owner very knowledgeable and approachable. Helped a lot, sharing even some bottles not officialy released yet to the local market.
My wife and kids had a lovely time while we were discussing and trying different bottles.

Le cadre est très agréable. Le service efficace et souriant est très performant. La cuisine, s'inspirant des plats traditionnels crétois, est réellement excellente. A base de produits frais, associant des saveurs ciblées et très bien assorties, la création culinaire du chef reste succulente.

Au coeur du village, une jolie terrasse ombragée avec des produits régionaux. Des feuilles de vigne delicieuses et des olives fondantes. Un accueil souriant et des conseils avisés pour faire quelques emplettes. Beau choix de vins, entres autres Winey Idaia, Diamantakis et Lyrarakis. Un dessert gracieusement offert avec des raisins confits. Un délice! Posez
