Una localización estratégica que permite disfrutar de la tranquilidad de la zona sin alejarse mucho de la región central del pueblo.
La comida del restaurante es excelente. Hay un buen sitio para la observación de aves.
Las instalaciones están en muy buen estado.
El personal es muy atento y amable.
Posee un amplio estacionamiento.
Los precios son justos y accesibles.

Location is optimal as you are in the city but you have the impression of being in the countryside.
Service was great as well.
Only the room was nothing special and a bit old even if for 2 nights it was all good.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Had the best birthday ever. Staff were amazing and armando was brilliant .. went on a sloth tour and saw lots of animals. He also took us on a free tour around the hotel grounds where we saw all sorts of wildlife we never would have spotted on our own. 10/10

Great location. Great view. Free breakfast. Within walking distance to shops/restaurants.
Luis hooked us up with a horse tour/hot springs at a great price. He has more tours we will probably take.

We stayed two nights at Hotel Arenal Xilopalo so we could explore La Fortuna. The hotel is very close to town but also tucked away from the noise. The property is nice, cool area for bird watching. The staff was friendly and we didn’t have any issues with our room at all. We didn’t hang out in the common area but it’s a cool set up. They have a sitting area, pool and small pool table. We didn’t eat breakfast here but they have a view of Arenal and put out fruit for the birds for the guests to enjoy and watch. Quick checkin and even quicker checkout. I would definitely stay here again if we go back to La Fortuna.

We stayed two nights at the property and would not hesitate to go back next time we are in La Fortuna.
We got to stay in new rooms that had just been completed and they were immaculate, and had private balconies that faced Arenal and offered great views.
The breakfast was good and the bird watching while eating was worth a trip to the hotel all on its own.
Armando (the owner) took us on a night walk through the property's grounds and with flashlights, showed us frogs, lizards and birds we had only seen in zoos while visiting Costa Rica. He is a photographer himself and held lights on the various animals to ensure I could get good photos. I was able to get a great photo of a red eyed tree frog.
Angela (the owner) brought us freshly cut pineapple in the morning to our room, and one evening offered us delicious cake. She was very friendly and helpful and great to talk with. She suggested another stop on our way to Poas Volcano that would be good for seeing birds. It was a perfect recommendation, as we were able to get some amazing photos of hummingbirds and Toucans.
We travel often, and very seldomly do we get to meet such genuine, friendly and hospitable hosts.
We cannot recommend a stay at their hotel enough.

The experience and location was great. Make sure you make and drink the coffee in the room; it’s delicious. I would definitely stay here again. Armando was wonderful and extremely accommodating.

My girlfriend and I stayed a few nights in Xilopalo and loved it! The rooms are spacious and well-equipped and the staff are super friendly and helpful. They offered a lot of help with booking activities around La Fortuna and they have deals so you can get some great discounts by booking through them! We ended up doing a different tour each day, making our stay really fun and action-packed. Thanks guys!

Great service & friendly staff. The breakfast is very delicious and the view from the restaurant on the volcano and the 2 bird watching stations is just unbeatable! The room was clean but rather basic and had a bad smell. Great location, a bit further out but definitely walkable! One night Armando gave us a little tour through their garden to spot some frogs. Amazing!

Todo fue absolutamente perfecto: ubicación, habitación con aire acondicionado, desayuno, vistas y sobre todo atención. No perderse el tour con Armando para ver perezosos (30usd en dic. '23) que además se complementa con paseos nocturnos gratuitos por el bosquecito al costado del hotel para ver ranas y otro animales.

They gave us a free upgrade. The room was huge with a kitchen and a small dining table. That was a pleasant surprise.
The have a restaurant onsite, which is very convenient. Almost all the tour operators can pick you up from this location.
You can see Arenal volcano mountain from the property.
We also saw a hamming bird in the morning over there.
They have a few sofas and chairs for a group sitting near a small pool and board games, a pool table.

The rooms are a bit dated and basic. Great location, great staff, and an amazing breakfast. Good views of Arenal from the restaurant/breakfast area. Saw several birds every morning at breakfast. The staff was very friendly and helpful in arranging all our tours in the Fortuna area. The sloth tour with Armando was excellent - he is very passionate about wildlife. He returned in the evening to walk us around the hotel to spot frogs and other nocturnal creatures.

+ schöne Anlage mit schönem Garten drumherum (am Rand einer kleinen Stadt)
+ leckeres Frühstück mit leckerem Obst, während man verschiedenste Vögel beobachten kann
+ sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal
++ sloth tour mit Armando ist sehr zu Empfehlen (private Tour mit ihm)
- das Zimmer war sehr dunkel und nicht wirklich einladend
- die dusche hat uns 2 mal mitten in der Nacht aufgeweckt, weil sie von selbst angegangen ist (laut personal sei das normal)
- kühlschrank war nicht benutzbar weil er sehr unangenehm gerochen hat
- sehr hellhörig

Great location, and great value for the price! Armando is literally the best!! Don’t miss out on the sloth tours with him.
Also, the birds by the breakfast area were amazing.. just the sheer variety!

De très grandes chambres propres et confortables (un peu humide, mais qu'est-ce qui est sec par ici ?). Un très bon petit déjeuner pris tout en regardant les oiseaux manger.
Le restaurant sert aussi le soir d'excellents plats bien frais.
Et une belle piscine
