The location is fantastic! Located in a quiet area just two corners away from the hustling streets. 'Walking' distance to gare de lyon and the metro and bus stations are in reach within 2min.
But it gives vibes of an old knights castle - It has a musty smell. There's no elevator but up to 4 floors. Per floor only 3 toilets, which will not stay clean... There's a sink and a shower in the room, but when I arrived it smelled like piss in there (guess a private toilet per room would have been a better idea). Also as there are just beds and no private curtains, one wakes up easily, each night I had new roommates that arrived late and struggeled to keep quiet and the light low while setteling in.
Furthermore, the hostel is mostly frequented by school classes, who are rather loud amd overly excited.
One of the person came to the room aroun 1 o'clock in the night and turned on the lights made noise...etc...
Annoying!
There was absolutely no privacy in the dorm room. The beds were really small and uncomfortable. They were all crammed together into one corner. It was so weirdly layed out to the point where your head and ur neighbours feet were 15cm apart, it was too much. And no curtains of course.
No wi-fi or service in bedroom, really disappointing.
The shower was really cramped, and the curtain was gross. It was disgusting and claustrophobic.
Plug sockets next to bed do not work so could not change my phone or anything I needed to charge. That’s really bad.
You can not check in until 3pm on the dot, even if you arrive 10 mins before. Felt really petty. The lady who was on reception when I arrived was really rude. The other guys were okay but honestly gave off weird annoying energy.
They charged me an extra €3 fee to check into the hostel as a compulsory membership fee… what the fuck…
Not social at all, not a single person spoke to me. It is definitely not a backpackers hostel of appropriate for solo travellers.
The ‘free breakfast’ is just some dry cake and cereal. Was disappointed.
You have to be out of your room everyday between 12-3 so they can clean, meaning u can’t access the room you paid for.
Would definitely not recommend staying here. I have travelled for years and never come across such a bad hostel.
