This is the way a guesthouse should be run. We rented one of the standalone bungalows - it was 2 rooms with a shared bathroom and shared kitchen. The rooms were clean and quiet, the breakfast was outstanding, and the one thing that this place offered that we didn't find anywhere else in the country was a visitor's guide with QR codes for easily finding activities in the area.
The nearby Myvatn Nature Baths were my favorite springs in the country (we visited several), and this is where we first saw the Aurora Borealis.
Highly recommend this destination and the Elda Guesthouse.

Guesthouse au top! Avec un environnement incroyable, en tout cas sous la neige.

Considérant que le choix d’hébergements est assez restreint dans le secteur de Myvatn, je ne prends pas un grand risque en vous recommandant celui-ci. Les chambres sont simples, froidement décorées, l’insonorisation n’est pas optimale, les portes de chambre sont bruyantes et le prix est plutôt élevé. Cela dit, le petit déjeuner sous forme de buffet est très complet, délicieux et varié. S’il est inclus dans le prix de l’hébergement, il peut devenir très abordable. Autrement, il est plutôt dispendieux. Je tiens également à souligner que les chambres sont suffisamment spacieuses, les salles de bain et cuisines sont fonctionnelles et adéquates, les lieux sont propres, le service est bon, l’emplacement est génial et il y a amplement d’espaces de stationnement.

Struttura pulita e accogliente. Fortunatamente non c'era molta gente, sennò la cucina sarebbe stata piccola. Colazione ottima, abbondante e varia.

Es más un albergue que un hotel, pero a precio de hotel. Apenas hay espacio en las habitaciones. La ropa se había de colgar encima de la mesa, haciendo que no se pudiera utilizar (ver foto) y el muro de separación entre habitaciones tan débil, que se escuchaba incluso susurrando y a quien roncaba. Solo está bien el desayuno.

Guesthouse sul lago Myvatn con colazione eccezionale. Camera spaziosa e pulita, con bagno (con vasca) e cucina in comune. Colazione eccezionale dolce e salata, anche con la possibilità di assaggiare il tipico pane locale (lava/geyser bread) assieme a burro e trota affumicata.

Stayed there as a family for four nights and the two girls that were running this place where so hospitable. Their service was very good. We have a 19 month baby girl and we came a little bit early, called them and asked for a early check in. No problem. When we arrived almost everything was ready with a children´s bed and everything. Our doughter has allergic to eggs and milk and they custom made breakfast for us. I myself ate the buffet and it was really good!
The bed was good and the room that we got was separate from the main building, it had a sink in it and a desk. You can hear commotion if somebody is opening doors but its ok. There was 2 toilets both with showers, everything clean and a small kitchen where you could cook, store your food in the fridge and eat at a table.
I accidentally broke an bottle opener and told them about it and they just brought me a new one. I promised to buy a new one but I totally forgot it.
I recommend this place, especially if you have kids. Just let them know beforehand and they will take good care of you.

Pro: Friendly staff. There is a laundry service (bit pricey, 1500 ISK for washing and 1500 for drying, but it is good). Good shower. Location near lake Myvatn. Nice kitchen. Shared space is is clean including floor as you have to take off your shoes at the entrance.
Con: Room was extremely warm even though we opened the window and turned down the heating (outside was 4 degrees!). This wasn’t comfortable at all. The walls are thin which makes the rooms very noisy; when we stayed there, there was a family with young children and we could hear every sound.
Advice: leave the keys in the door on the outside because they cannot be opened without them and you only get 1.

Отличное место, нам очень понравилось. Комнаты комфортные, матрасы удобные, что просыпаться не хочется. Полностью оборудованная кухня. Места хватает всем. Нар разрешили выселиться позже. Определённо рекомендую там остановиться.

Late checkin time. Only very small room for most expensieve price in our two weeks in iceland. Very small kitchen for the amount of guests. Good breakfast.

Bardzo dobra lokalizacja, jednak trudno o spokój i ciszę - wspólna kuchnia i łazienki sprawiały, ze nawet o 1:00 trudno bylo zasnąć. Porównując pokoje w podobnych cenach w innych częściach Islandii, jakość była zdecydowanie lepsza.

Unsere schlechteste Unterkunft in 2 Wochen Island. Völlig überteuert. Da Wasser riecht stark nach Schwefel. Abgesehen davon gab es ein Gemeinschaftsbad für das ganze Haus. Für das Frühstück wollen sie 18.-/Person obwohl es nur Brot und etwas Aufschnitt gab. Die Türen waren sehr dünn, heisst man hört alles im Haus.

Huge difference between the rooms pictures and what you ll get. Quite expensive for such a cheap accommodation.

Trop cher pour ce que c'est! Le wifi ne marche pas... la borne "issue de secours" reste allumé en permanence et empêche de dormir... l'épluche-légume est rouillé... l'ouvre-boîte ne fonctionne pas... À éviter!!
