Hotel con encanto situado en una calle tranquila, que ofrece habitaciones amplias y acogedoras

El Hotel Holt es un hotel con encanto que dispone de 40 habitaciones, incluidas 12 suites, con un ambiente íntimo. Está situado en una pequeña y tranquila calle, tras una fachada que no parece gran cosa. El interior, en cambio, muestra un lujo silencioso, con varias salas decoradas con la que es una de las mejores colecciones privadas de arte islandés. Hay habitaciones amplias y acogedoras, así como todo lo necesario para disfrutar: bar, restaurante, biblioteca e incluso una pequeña sala de fitness para cambiar de aires.

GEIRLAUG ÞORVALDSDÓTTIR

Geirlaug Þorvaldsdóttir es la única propietaria del Hotel Holt desde 2004. Es hija de los fundadores del Hotel Holt, Þorvaldur Guðmundsson e Ingibjörg Guðmundsdóttir.

Geirlaug trabajó en el Hotel Loftleiðir (ahora Icelandair Hotel Reykjavík Natura) y en el vestíbulo del Hotel Holt cuando era más joven, mientras completaba sus estudios.

Lleva más de 30 años enseñando lenguas extranjeras en el centro de enseñanza secundaria superior Menntaskólinn í Hamrahlíð.

Se graduó en el departamento de arte dramático del Teatro Nacional de Islandia en 1972 y trabajó allí durante varios años. También ha trabajado en la programación de televisión y radio y en el Festival de Arte de Reikiavik durante varios años.

Geirlaug siempre ha participado activamente en la comunidad. Ha sido miembro de la junta directiva de la Asociación Islandesa de Mujeres Universitarias durante muchos años, incluyendo 14 años como presidenta. También ha sido miembro de la junta directiva de la Federación de Sociedades de Mujeres de Reikiavik, de la Escuela de Economía Doméstica de Reikiavik y del Fondo de Madres de Reikiavik.

Los hijos de Geirlaug son Þorvaldur Kristjánsson, asesor nacional de cría de caballos de Islandia, e Ingibjörg Kristjánsdóttir, que está terminando un posgrado en cardiología.

Excellent choice of stay in the city center of Reykjavik, food and comfort are more than fine

We were more than pleased with our 2-night stay at Hotel Holt. The atmosphere is charming and warm, and the front desk staff are exceptionally helpful. The complimentary coffee bar was a nice touch and the room was clean and comfortable. There are comfortable areas for guests to lounge and read, as well as lots of beautiful art to look at. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Hotel Holt to anyone visiting Reykjavik.

Super cute hotel with vintage flair and - as the name suggests - Art everywhere.
Perfectly located close to the city but still not too loud at night. Breakfast is really good, too, and staff is very attentive and Super friendly and helpful.

After recently staying in the Hotel Holt during our trip to Iceland, we would recommend if you're looking for something near the main strip (5 min walk) and the church. Quite basic rooms but was perfect for us and had everything we needed and was out in town for most of the day.

Also wanted to say that Kevin at the front desk was so polite and really helpful. He made some good recommendations for us to eat when we first arrived and helped us out when we thought the Blue lagoon was closed.

This hotel was part of a package holiday, and was listed under the "luxury" category. There didn't seem to be many pictures of the rooms online, but the reviews seemed good enough so we gave it a go. But unfortunately there isn't many good things to say about it, from our stay at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is in a good location (5 minutes walk from the town, etc), but the rooms are tiny and old fashioned. Could do with a makeover, and modernising a bit. No fridge in the room and the TV was too small to do anything with. Even the extractor fan in the bathroom wasn't working, and could see mould starting to appear on the ceiling. Luckily our package holiday included a lot of days out/trips, so none of this was a huge problem for us, but expected a lot more.

Breakfast (if you can call it that) was included from 7 to 10am. We went twice, then decided to eat elsewhere after that. The first morning there was scrambled egg, sausages, and beans (all lukewarm) with a couple of pastries and a few other odd little bits. Not much at all. On the second morning there was scrambled egg, mushroom, and bacon (again all lukewarm), with the same pastries and other little bits. We knew it was going to be a buffet style breakfast, but was expecting more options at least. If you choose to stay here, I would save your money and get breakfast elsewhere.
