La Locanda is a wonderful and rustic hideaway in Musanze - perfect for a quick stop pre. Gorilla trek (20 min drive to HQ) or for a longer stay.

The staff (Kevin and Richie) are professional and accommodating, the rooms spacious and warm, and the food is excellent.

I’ll definitely be staying here for future Musanze visits.

This is my fourth time staying here, and it gets better each time. The staff are lovely, it's peaceful and quiet, the rooms are comfortable, and it's in a convenient location. Highly recommend!!

The staff were amazing! Our experience was great! We would definitely stay there again. They only had a double bed s room available for our nights so we booked it, the room was small with not much space around the bed, but we didn’t stay in there much anyways because the common areas were great and very cozy (giving home vibes).

They helped call a taxi for us whenever we needed it. Cleaned our shoes and clothes after the hike. Friday night was pizza night and there was a live show by local performer, they offered chocolate cake on Friday. Dinner on Saturday was an Italian dish with soup and icecream. It was delicious. Breakfast is your choice of eggs + vegetables + toast + fruits/fruit juice +- pancakes. Coffee and tea were also included. Everything was great and WiFi was fast!

PARADIS sur terre tout est magnifique les chambres, l'environnement, le restaurant : du gastro tous les soirs, la réception avec sa cheminée, géniale pour boire un verre, le personnel aux petits soins et cerise sur le gâteau le patron ALBERTO; une magnifique personne qui vous met à l'aise dès la première minute

Wat een heerlijke plek. Wat een fantastisch personeel, alert en servicegericht. Niets is teveel. Alberto, de eigenaar, zorgt er met zijn team voor dat je je meteen thuis voelt. Kamers zijn top. De gesprekken met mede reizigers bij de open haard zullen je bijblijven. De service is geweldig. Ontbijt, diner en drankjes zijn inbegrepen in de prijs. De gerechten worden bereid met producten uit eigen tuin. Ook laundry service en gebruik van de sauna/spa zijn inbegrepen. De dienstverlening en service maakt de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding top. Desgewenst regelen ze ook diverse activiteiten voor je, zoals die in Volcanoes NP of naar Twin Lakes, inclusief boottocht naar een eiland en een overheerlijke lunch met verser dan verse vis uit het meer. Je voelt je op deze plek meteen thuis. De beste ervaring in Rwanda die we hebben meegemaakt! En by the way, WiFi is uitstekend ;-). Voor als je dat nodig hebt.

I did a long-term stay at La Locanda in 2016, then visited again in 2019 for a week! An incredible, thoughtful staff, you will surely be taken care of here. The improvements that Alberto and his team have made to the property are incredible, thus the increased price for those of us who have stayed here previously is WORTH IT! La Locanda is in a quiet back road in Musanze, but close enough to walk into town. The perfect stay for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, with lots of things to do in Musanze. I was lucky to have spent so much time here!

Buen sitio para ir a visitar el Volcano National Park
Las habitaciones bien, aunque en la nuestra faltaba algo de luz. Eso si, disponía de bañera, ducha y mosquiteras en cama y ventanas
El servicio de comedor muy bueno, aunque hay que recordarles si se necesita picnic para el día siguiente.
Y el ambiente, con música genial y nos encendieron la chimenea

Wir waren zwei Nächte im "La Locanda" zu Gast und waren begeistert! Wunderschön eingerichtetes Zimmer mit frischen Blumen, ein tolles Bad und eine schöne Terrasse.
Sehr schönes Frühstück, Omelett, Pancakes, frisches Obst. Zum Abendessen gab es jeweils ein fantastisches vegetarisches Drei Gänge Menü, da der Besitzer Italiener ist, an der italienischen Küche angelehnt!
Das Personal ist überaus herzlich und zuvorkommend und kümmert sich super um alle Gäste.
Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und werden bei einem zukünftigen Besuch in Ruanda gerne wieder vorbei kommen.

Everything was excellent about my stay. The staff was super welcoming and helpful. The fresh Italian vegetarian dishes were delicious, so as were the breakfasts. Our clothes got cleaned the same night after coming back from our long dirty hike and we weren't charged. The interior design is absolutely gorgeous and sitting by the fireplace in the evening with fellow travelers was so nice. You can hear your neighbors when in the room and the noise is very loud when it rains, but that's a minor thing. Wi-Fi is also good, both in the rooms as in the rest of the place. Make sure to have some cash or MoMo in case the payment machine doesn't work. Will for sure recommend or come back when I'm in the area.

Amazing place. I have stayed here 3 times now, most of the times because I was going for a hike in Volcanoes National Park. If you don’t want to spend high amounts of money, if you want comfortable beds, delicious food and drinks, and a peaceful garden to relax in, this is the place to be :). They also have a sauna and offer massages. They have a lovely fireplace to make the living room even cozier.

La Locanda is approximately a 20 minute drive from the Volcanoes National Park HQ so it’s ideal for those visiting the park. Since La Locanda is situated in Musanze, you can also explore the city and have a great lunch in the neighborhood (Migano, Crema or Gabels Garden)

LaLocanda is arguably the best place to stay in Musanze (if you don’t want to spend 1.500-2000 USD for a night in the luxury lodges). I paid 68000 RWF a night for a single room with a private bathroom and breakfast + dinner included. The entire place is super clean, and the common area is beautiful with a garden, flowers and a lot of light.
Also it is the first place in Rwanda that didn’t try to sell me some extra tours and when I asked they provided with cheap options or gave me Tipps on how to hitchhike…

Bed and Breakfast in Musanze. Rooms and houses are very basic, but the restaurant part is very very nice with superb service and great food.

Fantastic place to stay when preparing or reminiscing your trip up the volcano mountains. Really enjoyed the hospitality here with the famous Italian touch meaning great food and lovely wines. Next to all the niceness the WiFi is really good and the place is very secure. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the spa/sauna!
