Fundado en 2017 por una australiana, Yoly Phillips, el campamento Karungi es popular entre muchos viajeros. ¿Por qué es tan popular? Por la interacción que permite con los habitantes de Rubuguri, por su equipo, por sus habitaciones sobrias, limpias, equipadas y -comparadas con las tarifas que se cobran en las afueras del parque- económicas, por su ventajosa ubicación para quienes deseen descubrir la belleza de la región y dedicarse al rastreo de gorilas (el punto de partida del rastreo en Rushaga se encuentra a 8 km) y, por último, por las actividades que ofrece.

Kreeg geen positieve vibe op dit adres. Heel gedoe met onderhandelen over de prijs... De manager moest iedere keer weer zijn baas gaan bellen of ons bod geaccepteerd kon worden. Het team was zwak, misschien dat het wel beter zo zijn als de baas (silver) er zou zijn, maar die hebben we niet gezien. Locatie is wel super om gorilla trekking te gaan doen.

We slept here for 2 days during december. It was a lovely experience. We got a verry warm welcome in the lodge and were greeted with fresh juice and a warm towel. The rooms are good, only thing missing is some sort of closet. The location of this lodge is great with just a 20 minute drive to Rushanga gate of the Bwindi NP. The service is outstanding, with all the staff trying their verry best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. But the best is yet to come, the food. The food is just outstanding. This must have been the best food we’ve had in all of eastern Afrika, which is quiet a lot.

All together We can highly recommend this lodge for anyone wanting to do the gorilla trek in Bwindi NP.

Geweldige plek als uitvalsbasis voor de gorilla trekking en ook nog eens community owned! Waren er in feb 23. Gordon is super behulpzaam en kon lastminute permits voor ons regelen. De accommodatie heeft een geweldige douche met heet water, heerlijk om bij te komen na de hike. Maar het beste was het eten, het beste wat we hebben gegeten in Oeganda. Chef Daniel is echt getalenteerd!
