Excelente hostel. Me encantó la energía. Sin duda volvería.

Bed and pillows are hard and squeaky, it's too hot in the room, woke up a few times in the middle of the night sweating. There was a huge freakin booger on the wall by my bed, and the outlets don't work. 2 girls working the front desk during my check in looked like they obviously hated working there ????

This Hostel was one of my worser hostel visits. The location in the city is pretty good with the Subway being 1 block away, but it takes about 1,5 hours from either airport to get to it by Subway. After I arrived I was told the room would be ready by 3 p.m, it wasn’t ready until 4, because the room was being „prepared“ (See attached photo to see how my bed was prepared…). When I could finally check in, it took about 15min for no apparent reason. I was also told I would have to move rooms after the first night of my four night stay because of a big group coming… Not very pleasant unpacking and repacking all your stuff after one night, just to move to a different room in the same building.
The move turned out to be good though, because the first night I slept in a room which was clearly not renovated. The mattress was as hard as a gym mat, the plug by my bed did not work and the bed was too short for me and feet stuck out the back (6ft 3“). Also every room has a humidifier that runs 24/7 because the windows can only be opened a small crack. This humidifier is extremely loud and I could hear it through my noise cancelling AirPods playing music during the night. The blinds on the windows also don’t make the room completely dark, which doesn’t contribute to a good nights sleep after a long day exploring the city. The rooms all have bunk beds, but the old beds shake completely if one of the people in the beds move, making it very hard to fall asleep if you are paired with someone who moves a lot when they sleep.
My move after the first night I then had to move to a different room which had been renovated and was a lot better bed wise. The new room was now a 8 bed room instead of the 6 bed room I had booked and payed for. I was told this room was $9 cheaper than what I payed, but I was NOT refunded. These beds were very comfortable and also had blinds on each bed for some privacy, which was not possible in the old room. However this room had walking lights on the wall that could not be turned off, and lit up a good bit of the room. My roommates and I had to resort to covering them up with the trash cans so the room was dark. The blinds in this room also didnt close completely. There is one bathroom on every floor for each gender which was decently clean though, however the showers do NOT get warm and stay Ice cold, Not very pleasant…

Putting up with all of this would be fine if this hostel was 30-40$ a night, but knowing I paid over 80$ a night during this stay, I will definitely not return to this Hostel.

Hola!! Realice una reserva hace algunos días para el mes de mayo, pero ésta me quedo errónea, reserve sin darme cuenta una habitación de 8 personas pero solo hombres, deseo cambiarla para una habitación de 4 personas claramente compartida con mujeres, he enviado correo pero aun no me dan respuesta, he intentado comunicarme vía telefónica pero no lo he logrado, adicional el cobro no se me ha hecho, puedo pagar una vez llegue al Hostal. Agradezco una pronta respuesta a mi solicitud, estoy muy inquieta con el tema porque dice No Reembolsable.

I took 20 students to NYC for a robotics competition.
The HI Hostel was amazing. The staff was kind and helpful. The facilities was clean. The building had so much to offer, spaces, activities and a wonderful coffee shop.

I stayed here twice within my stay in NYC (went intestate for a few days in between).

The first time, I was in a 12 bed female dorm. The beds all had curtains and were comfy with a solid level of privacy. One of the nights I was there there was no hot water in the showers but this may have been due to a severe storm in NYC. I went to the hostel meet and greet party in the common area which was super well organised and a great way to meet others - and each person got two free drinks!

The second time I came back, I was in a 12 bed mixed dorm and unfortunately none of those beds had curtains or any privacy.

The location of the hotel is great. Particularly easy to get to the 103 Broadway subway station.

I stayed over Easter weekend in a private ensuite room with my family (husband and 7yo daughter) and we had a wonderful time. A warm and friendly welcome, clean and comfortable rooms (with more amenities than I thought I’d enjoy at a hostel ex sheets, towels, face clothes, shampoo, shower gel, hairdryer, TV etc) and spacious indoor and outdoor communal areas areas with pool table, games and books. I learned it’s a charity too and donates money to travel scholarships and other causes. Pretty cool to know my $$ going to a good cause. I would absolutely stay here, and in any other HI USa hostel again.

Nice hostel. Got it cheap since I had promo. If you can book it in advance, it is actually really really cheap to live in near downtown, and visit all the attractions of new York city.

My go-to hostel in Manhattan when I’m in a pinch. Off Amsterdam & 103rd on the west side, they got you smack in the middle of the PJs ???? it’s a strange block but they got delis and food nearby. The bed springs are on their last leg lol but it’s a hostel not the Hilton ????????‍♀️

EDIT: the heat & hot water DO NOT WORK here. Don’t book in the winter unless you have a strong desire to have an orphanage experience.

Solid hostel!
The dorms were clean. The bed could have been a little bit more comfortable. You get your own locker.
The common area is really good with a lot of sofas, a pool table, board games and tv area. There’s also a little cafe that has good coffee and pastries.
My friend and I had an issue with her bed being taken in our dorm when we arrived and the girl at the desk wasn’t really motivated to help us solve that. So my friend and I were in different rooms even though there was clearly a free bed in my room that she could have gotten.
Bathrooms got crowded in between. Some of the showers only had freezing water and waiting for another one to free up takes time (that you don’t have in NYC). Also the sinks were without soap in one of the ladies bathrooms for 2 days straight.
Just mentioning everything hoping it will improve in the future. Overall I’d stay here again.

O hostel tem uma estação de metrô há 1 quarteirão que atende a linha 1 e outra estação há 3 quarteirões que atende outras linhas e fica na frente do Central Park. Há muitos comércios na região, inclusive de lojas famosas como TJ Maxx, Target, Five Below, Starbucks, entre outras. Fiquei em um quarto feminino com 4 camas e foi muito tranquilo, mesmo sem ter cortina nas camas. O café que funciona no hostel ajuda bastante nas emergências, mas a região também tem muitos locais para comer.
Achei o hostel bastante seguro, com cartões de controle de acesso às áreas comuns e quartos.
Banheiros limpos e espaçosos, embora faltasse água quente. Os quartos poderiam ser limpos com maior frequência, pois achei muita poeira embaixo da cama. O ar condicionado estava quase sempre agradável, exceto em algumas noites que fez um frio que impossibilitava dormir. Basta pegar mais cobertas na recepção (assim como toalhas, eles te entregam sempre que você pede). Uma dica: o ar é muito seco no hostel por conta do ar condicionado e do purificador de ar, então tenha soro fisiológico com você, pois vai te dar muita qualidade na respiração!

Entretanto, definitivamente não gostei da falta de água quente nos banheiros. Eu consegui tomar banho quente todos os dias porque descobri o único box do 3° andar que estava contando com água quente.
Porém, no meu último dia, esse banheiro estava reservado para um grupo e quando questionei na recepção onde poderia encontrar outro banheiro com água quente, a atendente me disse que eu poderia procurar nos demais banheiros dos outros andares (não respondeu com má vontade, mas me deu a sensação que esse não é um problema que faz diferença pro hostel, mesmo estando no inverno). Eu procurei e não achei. Era uma reclamação geral das meninas.

This is nice as far as hostels go! Clean, nice shared spaces, great location, beds adequately comfy, super nice staff, etc. My only qualm with the hostel is that it was really difficult to get a shower with hot water. One bathroom we tried had showers that were all completely ice cold, and the other bathroom on our floor my friend was able to get hot water in, but my shower had water just warm enough to tolerate. It may have been because we were trying to shower right after peak shower time (like midnight), but it’s a bummer because hot water is kind of my only requirement for a cheap place to stay— I’d rather a hostel be more sketchy and be able to take a real shower than nice and have cold water! Everything else was enjoyable though so I’ll probably try staying again and seeing if showering during off times gives me any more luck.

Absolutely love the Staff here. Top notch hospitality, super accommodating and friendly. Catia (house Keeper) loves her work because it shows in the level of thorough cleaning she renders as well as Luz. Front desk staff namely: Michael, Jacob, Kayla, Rondell, , Guillermina. Nick, Jose, Yash, Gillian. Rayven. Betsy, Johanna. Mia are all excellent examples of professional, well organized and hospitable teamwork. As well as Alfredo (night porter) friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Showers are awesome with great hot water and hair dryers. The kitchen is made for a cooking show Lol several stoves a Chef’s dream. There are great activities with an amazing hostess Ms. Malaika throws the best gatherings. I could go on and on about this wonderful NYC Traveler’s Dream Hostel . A Must Experience I highly recommend. Oh yeah and very very affordable.

Auberge de jeunesse très agréable à proximité de Central Park et de 2 lignes de métro reliant facilement Downtown rapidement. Les services sont nombreux (laverie, cuisine avec frigos, télé, wifi, grande cour intérieure au calme, boulangerie), et le personnel très sympa. N'hésitez pas à y aller même en famille car ils proposent des dortoirs privés de 4 lits par exemple. Les salles de bains sont collectives mais très propres et toujours disponibles. Le quartier propose de nombreux commerces et restaurants pour tous les goûts et budgets. Et l'ambiance le soir en terrasse est toujours aussi sympathique pour rencontrer des personnes du monde entier ! En s'y prenant vraiment tôt, vous ferez de grosses économies sur le budget hébergement. Petite différence par rapport à d'autre Hi Hotel des USA, le petit déjeuner n'est pas inclus.

On retrouve tout l'esprit d'une Auberge de jeunesse officielle avec son ambiance, ses services, de nombreuses activités proposées (sorties à Harlem et dans d'autres quartiers, soirées thématiques...). Grands espaces communs. Très propre. Bien que les prix soient 2-3 fois plus chers qu'en auberge en France, pour New-York, le rapport qualité-prix est très bon. On peut regretter une localisation un peu excentrée au Nord-Ouest de Central Park avec un trajet assez long depuis JFK, mais tout de même deux lignes de métro à proximité. Quartier résidentiel calme.

Elle dispose d'une grande cuisine, d'une salle de TV/spectacle, d'un patio très agréable et d'un café. Également : laverie, ordinateur, sèche-cheveux dans les salles de bain.
De nombreuses activités sont proposées (payantes ou gratuites) : visite guidée de Manhattan, découverte du gospel à Harlem, soirée barbecue, balade à Central Park, ...

Ayant testé 3 différents hostels à NYC, celui-ci me semble être le meilleur en termes d'emplacement/qualité-prix. Très propre, très bien situé dans le upper west side, ambiance assez jeune et rencontres garanties!
