Stayed here for 5 nights in April. Thought it was an excellent deal! The amenities are basically non-existent, but it’s half the price (or less) than all of the other hotels in the area, so it is to be expected.
Everything about the place was on the older side (including the bedding, carpets, showers), but i did not think it was a problem. Cleanliness was passable - rooms were made every day. Notices some staining on the box spring and mattress.
The staff were amazing and helpful - We had an issue with the toilet flushing and we were switched to another room without any troubles!
Rooms are very small, but you won’t be spending much time in them considering how PERFECT the location is. It really can’t be beat, it’s within a 3 minute walk of green and yellow lines, and about 7 minute walk to orange and grey. Couldn’t ask for a better neighbourhood, east village is vibrant and we felt safe the entire time.
Also, We couldn’t hear any noise from the street or restaurant below from our room on the 3rd floor.
I would recommend this hotel to any ‘budget traveler’ who is used to simple, older accommodations. If you are used to chain hotels, you might not find St. Marks very comfortable.

交通の便もよく近くに居酒屋・日本食・ホテルの下にピザ屋もあります。

客室はバスタブは無し・エアコンは冷房のみで、暖房はポータブルの物です。
アメニティは石鹸・チューブ型シャンプーのみ。

エレベーターはないので、階段が嫌なかたは、ダメ元で低い階をリクエストしてみるのも有りかな（一番上の階で毎日大変でした）

近くに高級食材スーパーができたので、見るだけでも楽しいです。

No-frills for a fair price and right in the heart of the city (close to the metro, bars, restaurants). Accomodations are very basic but we personally had no issues with cleanliness or quality of the room. Also tastes vary but I personally found the outdated decor kind of charming... This place has character which feels fitting for a visit to this city. It is a shame that they're cash only but as long as you come prepared for this and ask for receipt there should be no issue. All-in-all, a solid spot!

Also YES the pizzeria downstairs is good. ????

Seems like this place is hit or miss.

We had a decent stay. The water is temperamental but works.

Rooms are cold during winter but have space heater.

No parking.

Staff was very nice about holding our luggage before and after checking in. But beds were VERY uncomfortable after a few days :( shower head was (inner city) strong enough.

We booked this place with the intention of never really being there except to sleep, and that's precisely what we did. Therefore, it was great! We would be out and about in the city all day, then be able to take the subway to within walking distance of the hotel at the end of the day.
Pros: they make your bed each day, they are very kind and helpful, they were willing to try to get me a room on the lowest level (but it turned out they were booked), we went in the winter and it was freezing cold outside but the tiny floor heater heated the space VERY well (we were sweating at some points!), no bugs, great location, hot showers. The beds are very firm, but we prefer that (I know some do not). At the end of each day, when we got back to our room after walking 8-10 miles all over the city, we would crash and sleep very well all night.
Cons: no elevator, the stairs are very steep and narrow, the place is outdated in decor (this could be spun as a positive if you love feeling and seeing the history from the building). There was no window view from our room, which was slightly disappointing. The TV appears to only have bunny-ear antenna channels from the 80s (but who cares, we were just there to sleep). We were NOT there in the summer, but I can imagine it would get pretty hot during that time of year.
Bottom line: If you are looking for an affordable, clean, and safe place to sleep, this is your place.

Ich möchte meine Erfahrung im Hotel teilen, um zukünftigen Reisenden eine informierte Entscheidung zu ermöglichen.
Leider war mein Aufenthalt nicht angenehm, da das Hotel nicht sauber war und unangenehme Gerüche in den Zimmern herrschten.
Das Bett war extrem unbequem, und die Bettdecken wiesen Flecken auf. Die Kopfkissen rochen nach dem vorherigen Gast, und überall im Zimmer war Schmutz und Staub zu finden.
Über die steilen und sehr engen Treppen wurde bereits mehrfach geschrieben.

Ein weiterer Nachteil war, dass es kaum Platz im Zimmer gab, um die Koffer zu stellen.
Darüber hinaus war die Politik der Vorauszahlung problematisch, da keine Rückerstattung möglich war, selbst wenn der Aufenthalt unangenehm war und aus obigen Gründen abgebrochen werden musste.

Trotz der relativ guten Lage des Hotels konnte diese die negativen Punkte nicht kompensieren. Nach zwei Nächten haben wir uns entschieden, das Hotel zu wechseln. Das bezahlte Geld haben wir nicht zurückbekommen!

Ich empfehle, entweder mehr für eine bessere Unterkunft zu investieren oder außerhalb von Manhatten nach Alternativen zu suchen. Die Busverbindungen sind gut, auch nach New Jersey.

Insgesamt würde ich dieses Hotel aufgrund meiner Erfahrungen nicht weiterempfehlen, insbesondere wenn man nach einem anstrengenden Tag in New York nach einem gemütlichen Rückzugsort sucht

I should’ve listened to the reviews. I decided to over look the bad reviews as the complaints were minor and I wasn’t planning on staying in and just sleeping. On arrival my check-in was smooth, be aware that it’s CASH ONLY. The staff working the front desk on arrival was very kind and helpful with getting my bags to my room. My room was unfortunately on the 3rd level of hotel, be aware again that they DONT have an elevator. So I had to climb what felt like 6 flights of narrow stairs. Once inside my room, I noticed that it was quite outdated, but clean. I left my things without giving it another thought and went on my day long expedition of the city. When I returned I decided to shower. To my misfortune the shower handle fell off and I was unable to shower. Again, I didn’t make a big deal and decided to just head to bed and let the front desk attendant know the next morning. Let me just say that was the worst night of sleep that I have ever had. The mattress was super uncomfortable, offering absolutely no back relief from the long day. I woke up feeling sore all over. The pillows weren’t any better. They appeared to have been old lumpy pillows. I’m assuming they were the cheapest pillows they could buy and had washed them to get them to that state. Laying down I finally got a look at the ceiling as saw what appeared to be a leak starting or patched over leak. During the night I could hear everything happening around me, especially people going down the stairs with their suitcases. The next morning, I decided for my sanity that I wouldn’t stay another night fretting it would be a nightmare like the night before. The front desk attendant working that morning was absolutely of no help and didn’t even offer a partial refund considering I had only spent one night of my four night stay. They simply offered me a different room on the second level. I refused and decided to just cut my losses and book the next available hotel room in the area. The only pro that this hotel had was the price and location.

Good budget hotel with small rooms and private bathrooms. The location is great for exploring NYC. The subway is close by.
This is a good stay only if you need basic amenities and a clean bed to sleep after a long day of exploring the city. If you plan on staying in the hotel for most part of your trip, maybe look elsewhere.

Always great for privacy cash only. But if u don't like walking up the stairs this place isn't for you. Not the best rooms but no one will get your privacy

Hotel simples mas que cumpre seu papel de um lugar para guardar bolsa e pernoitar. Troca de toalhas diariamente, amenyties, e recepção 24h. Tudo que eu precisava. Quarto pequeno, próximo a grande avenida, com bares embaixo. Se vc não for muito exigente e estiver cansada de um dia inteiro pela rua de ny, lugar ideal

Stayed for a week. Best value for money option in New York by far. Hotel is very charming. Service and hospitality are great! Location is EXTREMELY convenient and close to many spots in Manhattan.

Hotellrommet var rent og ikke særlig slitt. Veldig lytt fra utsiden da en hørte trafikk og mennesker fra gaten veldig godt selv i 3 etasjen. Dette er et eldre hotell uten heis. Her må du betale kontant! Kort vei til subway.

Old building without lift service. Old furniture and decorations. No cloth hanger in the wardrobe. However, the location is quite good.

We stayed for 1 week and enjoyed the great location to easily use the Metro bus system. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms for restful sleep.
